Seriously....my husband has to hide the scale from me

Hey you!!!! Glad to see you on here!!! You are going to LOVE this site!!! The people are amazing and have fantastic ideas!!! Good Luck!

Actually, if you read Jillian Michael's "Win by Losing" book, she prescribes sort of that idea. She has you count up all the calories you need for the week and then vary it from day to day. Maybe one day 1600, the next 1200, etc. That way you don't plateau. It has worked for me!

It's my birthday too  I figured, what a great birthday present to myself!
-
I did pretty much follow it exactly. Actually, when I strayed a bit and thought I would eat less to try to speed things along, that's when the weight loss slowed. Now I eat as many calories as it says and seem to maintain a steady weight loss. Although I vary it by zig zagging my calories. One day will be a bit higher, the…

What I've found is that people feel better about eating bad things when they eat bad things in numbers. Sometimes people shove food down our throats because if they go down, they want us to go down with them. You can't feel bad about saying no thanks. Eventually they will all get the message. Also, if it is something you…

Well, I started this as my new year's resolution and as of today hit my 50 pound mark!!! My original goal was to lose 40 pounds by July 13th. Now that goal is already way behind me! This hasn't been easy, but it has been soooo worth it. Thanks for all of the great ideas and support. This cite is AMAZING! :drinker:

Oh...it doesn't really have to have a pedometer to count steps. The main thing is the heart rate and the calorie counter. Thanks for letting me know about the inaccuracy of wrist hrm's! I almost bought one last night, but I thought I had better ask all of you first!
-
I'm looking for a step counter, calorie counter, water proof, heart rate monitor that I can wear around my wrist. I want one that I can enter my weight, etc. so that it is as accurate as possible. I know many have mentioned different ones, but I wasn't looking for one at the time so I didn't really pay attention. Anyhow,…

I know how you feel. I just started jogging with my dog around our neighborhood and I feel great! The last time I tried I jogged for about 30 seconds and about died :noway: Now I can jog for quite some distance at a time and I can't even describe the feeling of accomplishment. Good for you!!!!:drinker:
-
#42...good luck. I'll try to remember to go back a couple more times today
-
Oh man, that day is still far away for me, but I can't imagine the WONDERFUL feeling. Good Job! :drinker:
-
I hit my plateau, and finally decided to take a risk and increase my calories and almost immediately lost 2 lbs! It works!
-
Except for right now...I'm happily married  Although my hubby and I are doing this together which is sooooo fun! We went to the gym on valentine's day and it was actually romantic!
-
ME TOO!
-
I know, right? I try to work out when I get home around 4:30, but I am sooo exhausted! It hasn't been going well lately. You'll have to let me know what you find out. I always try to work out on the weekend at least, but even that is hard after grading and lesson plans.
-
Just be warned...your hubby will probably lose weight twice as fast. Darn those men :grumble: My hubby joined :drinker: and he passed me up a long time ago
-
Thanks you guys!!!!!!!:drinker:
-
Thanks to everyone on MFP, I have made it out of my plateau with a 2.5 weight loss this week  Thanks for all the great advice and encouragement. You were all right; I didn't want to admit it (not sure why), but you were all right. I had to eat more; that's right, eat more!!!! I was eating too little and my body made…

Will do
-
I don't know why, but I'm SOOO scared to increase my calories. It's almost like I am afraid to eat more. I guess I'm afraid that it could undo all that I have worked so hard for, but I will definitely try it :)

Someone help me please!!! I seem to be stuck. I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day, do the elliptical about 45 min a day 5 days a week, drink well over my water, and don't seem to be losing any weight anymore. At first it just melted off, now I'm stuck :grumble: Am I doing something wrong? My current weight is 277 (if that…

The no stretching thing before a workout is news to me. My doctor specifically told me to stretch first...grrrrrrr:frown:
-
I FEEL your pain!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the doctor to get help and all I got was pain killers. So, what I have learned in three short weeks: -Stretch well before a work out -Make sure you have really good shoes -Try to work out on a mat of some sort. Anything that has a little give for when you are jumping, etc. -Put a…

Can someone explain what the BMR is and how the info is to be used. I read the synopsis of it in the tools section, but I'm still not quite sure what that means for me.

Not that I wish bad health on anyone...
