  • First, way to go on your loss! That's fabulous. OK, so I've always struggled with this whole concept of 'skinny girls' because I've never been one. I feel resentment toward complete strangers simply because they have flat stomachs/ thin legs/ etc etc etc, and I hate that I think that way. I have a close friend who used to…
  • you can jog a lot farther than I can without a break! way to go! i'm jealous. last time i tried to jog continually i lasted i think 3 or 4 minutes, but now i'm going to add a new thing to my short-term goal list! thanks for the idea! i'm all about the small victories. it also makes the small failures, like eating a…
  • stretch first!!! and let me know how it goes!!
  • You can totally do it! I've struggled with too-big legs as long as i could remember. i feel you. don't give up!!!
  • The best part of having lots of weight to lose? LOTS of rewards along the way.
  • This inspired me to make a list of rewards for myself. Currently I'm at about 210lbs, with a goal of 150 (5'10). Here's what I have so far: When I reach… 205 lbs. I will enjoy a milkshake. 200 lbs. I will buy a new set of gauges. ($20) 195 lbs. I will go out to dinner. 190 lbs. I will take a 3-day weekend. 185 lbs. I will…
  • I tried out zumba at my gym for a while, and i had such a good time doing it. It can definitely help you burn lots of calories. My friend uses a heart rate monitor and burns about 700 calories after an hour of zumba. the most important thing is getting your heart rate up and staying in motion. If you're like me, you might…
  • You should look into low-impact options like water aerobics, yoga and tai chi. Just don't push yourself, take it slow and do what feels comfortable. Every little bit helps, but it can be tough if you're dealing with pain at the same time. You can do this though! Don't forget that. It'll be hard and you might feel like you…
  • Way to go so far! Keep it up! Add me, too if you want!
  • Height: 5'9-5'10 Age/Gender: 25/female Highest weight- 225lbs Current Weight- 211lbs Lowest weight- (as an adult...i don't remember high school very well) 185, and toned!, when I spent a summer working as a landscaper.. Goal weigh- 150 I've got a long journey ahead of me. Been half-assed trying to cut calories/go to the…
  • hell. yes. way to go dude. adding you.
  • daaaaamn girl. good for you! as a girl who has been overweight as long as i can remember, i'm so excited to know someone else had such success in her weight loss journey. mind if i add you?
  • You can modify it so it's a little easier if you need to, and it's only 20 minutes that go by pretty quickly. you'll want to die by the end, but stick with it! there's plenty of time to die after you're done! if you don't have handweights, tins can totally work. i've used big cans of soup in the past. you can also do the…
  • I'm on day 4 and i feel the same way. i'm SO tempted to take a pic to compare, but afraid i'd just bum myself out if i didnt see a change. I'm definitely feeling it though. I live on the third floor and it is PAINFUL to take the stairs. I also have a problem where my normal walk looks like a slowmotion speedwalk because my…
  • Yes! That's awesome! I'm on day 3 of 30ds and LOVING it. the bicycle crunches are what kills me, so this is great motivation for me to make it to day 10! keep it up!
  • That is so unbelievably true. I'm a marketing writer, and I read health studies all day, every day. Coffee is a big one that gets defended and attacked constantly. I LOVE Diet Coke, but the key to anything is moderation, right? The study even says, "But they don’t prove pounding back diet drinks is harmless." So, don't go…
  • When I was younger, I always felt like fattest girl in the room, and I was a lot of the time too, so looking in the mirror, all i noticed were my flaws. Even when I was at my skinniest and fittest after landscaping for an entire summer, I still felt huge. Years later, after I regained the weight, I see photos of myself…
  • Well, I changed my goal to 1 1/2 pounds per week and it gave me 1,480 calories per day, which I think it much more reasonable. It's also more accurate for the 25% calorie reduction I got when I factored in my BMR. I'm going to try this way out for a few weeks and see how it goes.
  • Ok, I'm going to change my goal to losing 1 pound a week. I want the weight to come off semi-quickly, so if i eat less than my calorie limit, good for me! I'm just glad to know 1260 hasnt been unhealthy or dangerous or anytthing like that Thanks for all of your advice. You've all been really helpful. I think this whole…
  • I am not small (5'10 and about 212lbs. now) and i DO exercise - about 30-60 minutes, 3-4 times a week
  • So, I've never heard of BMR until today. Mine is 1784, apparently. The formula I found to measure my intake says I'd need 2,453 to maintain my weight when I include going to the gym 3 times a week. Seems to me like 1260 is a bit steep of a cutback, even if I'm trying to lose 2lbs/week. Any thoughts?
  • Hey girl, Pinup is all about owning who you are and having fun while looking good. I'd say you should just go for it! Get your hair done, put on your favorite outfit and have a friend take your picture! If you keep it casual, it might help do away with the nerves. there's not much to being a pinup really.. just having fun…
