Ready for MFP friends again!
I recently deleted my whole MFP friend list in a moment of weird emotion. I thought it'd help to have only myself keeping myself accountable. I don't really remember the reasoning behind it anymore. Maybe it's that I'm not the most active socially on this site. But I miss having people to share the journey with. I've been…

What are your short-term weight loss rewards?
So, I like the idea of setting up smaller rewards as motivators along the journey. If nothing other than planning for the future losses is a motivation in itself. What mini rewards do you have to look forward to? Which ones have you reached already?

help! I acted like a shallow jerk about my bf's weight gain and don't know how to fix it.
so, my bf has gained a little bit of weight since we've gotten together. mind you it's probably only 10 lbs. i, on the other hand, have been losing weight, largely due to his continued, consistent support and encouragement. he stopped running, started eating more. whatever, nbd. he's happy. he was mega skinny when we…

NSV: found my motivation!
so, i've been in a workout/motivation slump since i got back from my vacation. in AUGUST. but, after a whiny forum post yesterday, i kind of woke up and found some perspective. thanks for the kind/harsh works, fellow MFPers. I needed that! I went to the gym and did a halfway decent workout. (it's so weird how quickly you…

Plateauing in more ways than one
I've been working hard and finally seeing real progress since around Dec last year. Since I started this go at losing weight and getting healthy (my most successful attempt so far), I've lost ~25 lbs. From my heaviest, I've lost almost 33. (i'm 28, and 5'10) But I've been stuck at the 188-192 range since the end of July.…

20lbs down and starting to see changes
At my heaviest, I was 223 (5'10, in my 20s) but i've been hovering between 205-218 for the last 3-4 years. Now I'm about 191, working out 3x a week (mostly strength training, free weights, some cardio) and eating at -30% of my TDEE. I'm loosing 1 1/2-2 lbs a week, gaining muscle definition, etc. My clothes are starting to…

Too intimidated to use weights
I met with a trainer a week and a half ago. He showed me a bunch of great exercises using free weights to target the things I want to target. I went back to the gym a few days later (once I could walk without wanting to die from pain lol) and it was chock full of meatheads/gymrats/etc. I managed to do 3 of my six sets, and…

Finally out of the 200s! Celebrating by myself
at my heaviest, I was 223 (27, 5'10, female if that wasn't obvs in my pic) I've been fluctuating between 210-223 for the past...forever except the summer I worked in landscaping. I've finally started eating better and less, and I'm slowly starting to go to the gym. For the first time in 9 years, the scale at the gym said…

How do you control how much you eat?
I know I'm not alone when I say this, but I have an unhealthy relationship with food. I use it as a comfort, I eat when I'm not hungry, etc. etc. What I want to know is how do other people control their portions? I'm not talking about meticulously weighing out food and prepackaging 5,000 meals ahead of time, because I…

anyone else sick of people trying to sell you workouts?
my best friend is a beachbody coach. she loves it, and i'm happy for her. at the same time, i really hate everything about that crap. my feed here, and now on fb thanks to her, seems to have more and more posts/comments about 'you should try this. message me, i'll tell you how to get it' it seems almost underhanded to…

Muscles SO sore...forgot to stretch...HELP!
So, I tried this new calisthenics things I saw on Pinterest. It was seven rounds of jumping jacks, crunches, squats and pushups. I made it three before I felt like I was gonna puke/fall over. In total I did: 180 j.j.s 140 crunches 70 squats 40 girl pushups I absolutely forgot to stretch afterward. The next day, my legs…

Setting smaller goals
Hi. I've been bouncing back and forth between living healthfully and being lazy about exercising/eating. I initially set my MFP weight loss goal at my ultimate goal, but I think it's too intimidating of a number. So I made it more manageable, but I am wondering if this is the best way. About me-I'm 26. Always been a big…

Advice on cutting back carb?
I've been tracking my diet daily since mid-Feb., and what I've noticed is that roghly half my intake is carbohhydrates. While part of that is simple carbs from fruit and the like, I know a major portion is from bread and pasta and other things I probably should be avoiding. I've heard that carbs can be difficult to break…

How to get more potassium?
I've started trying to pay attention to more than just calories, and i'm always significantly under my potassium goals. I don't want to eat bananas every day because I just don't like bananas that much. I've looked online for other foods that have potassium, but it seems like everything has such small amounts. I'm thinking…

Zumba calories?
So... Zumba is not a regular cardiovascular exercise option. In the past I used "dancing, general," but I find it hard to believe that 60 minutes of Zumba would only burn around 400 calories. What do you guys use for this one? -OR- Anyone who uses a HRM and weighs in or around the 200-220-lb. range, what have you burned…

Short Term Goal Met!!! What are your goals?
When I first made a serious commitment to workout regularly and actually stick with it in Feb, one of my short term goals was to be able to do a full back arch. I think the last time I was able to do so I was 14 or 15. I'm nearly 26, and I've been going moderately hard (just finished Level 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day…

MFP says I should only eat 1,260 calories/day
I've been reading other posts where people say consuming 1,500 calories in a day is too low, yet MFP recommends my daily calories consumed should be 1,260. Now, I know that it's net calories, but. If I don't make it to the gym that day..should I still try to stay at that level? That's what I've been at least trying to do…

Long time listener, first time caller
Hey I'm Sammy, I've always struggled with my weight and never really done much about it but complain (that burns calories, right?). About a year ago, I started doing personal PinUp photoshoots, and getting all sexified and dolled up has given me the kick in the plus-size pants I needed to start making real efforts. It's…
