rockerbabyy has it right on the nose. Added sugars (not those found naturally in foods like fruits and such) are not good.

Hey MALgal! I'm entering the home stretch of my Senior year - can't wait until I graduate in May! Even though I gained my weight back (and then some), when I lived on-campus I walked everywhere I went. Seriously, a good walk every day can really make a difference. I also tend to walk faster than most people, which helps me…

Welcome! I know what it's like injuring yourself and not being able to stay as active + desk job = unwanted weight. Feel free to add me!

So many replies! Love it! - Will definitely check out the Bolthouse Farms dressings. - Sounds like I need to try out more vinegar-based dressings. I do like those, just never would go for them (before wising up on what I ate, of course). - Salsa is amazing. Can't argue that! Loooooove a good salsa. - Don't have a Trader…

We DO have Mrs. Dash (love it!) and fat-free ranch. Looking to expand my pallet while shrinking my waist, but thanks for the suggestion!

^^ See, stuff like this, I just wouldn't think of throwing together. But I can totally see that tasting good. Not that we have a ton of stuff here (two college upperclassmen with jobs) but since we're both getting back into eating better I see many more meals at home (and more ingredients to play with!).

No tough mudder for me, are you doing it james?

The USF campus on a Sunday morning. When I'd walk to my car to go to work, the campus was empty. So nice to walk/jog/run/bike/whatever around, since there are miles of paths/road to yourself.

Those all sound good, that second one sounds AMAZING. Thanks for sharing!

Tampa as well, up by USF (if my pic didn't give that away)!

Hi little, it's great to use MFP and work out with somebody close to you. Set realistic goals for you and your mom and remember to drink lots of water!
-
Hi egatta, welcome to MFP! It's a fantastic place, and can really help you stay motivated. Commit to yourself to log everything you eat, and drink a LOT of water!! What school do you go to? I'm in my Senior year at the University of South Florida. Feel free to add me if you'd like!

Welcome to MFP! Joining this site and working with a friend or significant other always makes it easier. Feel free to add me!

Hey BossLady! Welcome to MFP. Great attitude to start making a change young - I realized I need to start now (22) so I can be around for my kids/grandkids/etc etc etc. Feel free to add me!

All that needs to be said, right here. Phenomenal job!

When I was 16, I worked my first job at an ice cream place (Bruster's Real Ice Cream, for those of you in the northeast US). I grew up on this stuff as a kid, and it was a dream come true (for a first job, anyway). I actually lost weight working there. It was more of a combination of running around the store,…

Mmm, gotta give that a try. And all veggies? Psh, gotta have some meat in there, lol.

Thanks! With the water, you can always mix it up - I usually have a pitcher (or two) of crystal light iced teas and other flavors in the fridge - 5 calories per serving, they taste great, and really help out getting to 8+ glasses of water everyday. If anything, it breaks the monotony of water over and over and over again,…

Heh, I appreciate it, but that's 35 to go! Just started yesterday actually. Went from 3000ish calories per day (gah!!) to just under 2000 yesterday (looking to lose 1 pound/week, normally a 2500 calorie diet for guys of my size) and was able to make it throughout the day without feeling like I was starving. Also, drank 8…

These sound really good! Any suggestions on what could substitute for the sausage? I'd be cooking for two and my better half doesn't care for sausage much.

Couldn't agree more with this. I'm already noticing my food eating habits changing and I just started yesterday. Being only 22, I don't want to mess up the rest of my life right off the bat.

Welcome! I just started here but my fiancee has been here for over a year and absolutely loves this site. I got a wake-up call when I put all of my food into my food diary and saw how much I was over-eating. Here's to a better future! Feel free to add me if you'd like!

I couldn't agree more to you, saying that you're changing your entire life. I decided to make the change just a couple days ago, and I'm already feeling 100% better about myself, even though I haven't lost any weight yet. Starting off on the right foot will definitely help and keep you motivated. Feel free to add me!

Ha, I'm 22 and finishing up my degree in May and working 30+ hours a week. There seems to be a lot of us here!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I know my fiancee loves this site - I don't know how long she's been here, but it's been a while. I'm looking forward to MFP helping me out and whip my butt back into shape and relieve some back pain. And fit into all of my clothes again... Haha.
