I just read an article about this. It's because you are trying to match your breathing with your stride. Try slowing down your breaths and focus on longer deeper breaths, then pick up speed still counting your breaths

I too notice a change in my sinuses and allergies while swimming. But does anyone else ger disturbed by the amount of snot and boogies that means might be in the pool? Gross, right? I am a preschool teacher,so I can't help but think about it.
