Totally agree with Kashi Go Lean Crunch. Try it with a spoonful of PB too.

Walking with weights, holding your elbows down at your side, arms bent, and twist back and forth, keeping your abs tight. Kind of looks silly, but works great!

Sprains always take longer to heal than you think they would or should. I sprained mine in mid-March, and my first good run after it wasn't until early May. I would DEFINITELY recommend seeing a physical therapist or someone specialized about it. I had lingering issues with some ligaments in my leg, which my excellent and…

Maybe you should consider changing your MFP settings to 1 lb a week or less. The 1200 sounds like you have it set to a high amount of weight loss per week. DEFINITELY eat back your exercise calories, which MFP will recommend you do when you input your exercise. Good luck!

Sounds like you've got a good going forward plan, I would also make sure that your problem is fixed before you try something new! I have always had great experience with good massage therapists in helping back pain. I would definitely try that before the chiropracter!!

Wow, you can totally tell in your face!! And your whole attitude has clearly changed too!! Good work, and keep it up!

Sometimes you have to ignore the scale and focus on what your body is telling you. Are your clothes looser? Are you finding it easier to get around? Be patient, the weight loss will come. Think about how long it took you to gain that weight - comparatively, a month is very little time. In the meantime, focus on the…

Good work and good story!! It looks like it is a lifestyle change for you, not just a "get thin quick" scheme, which is the best way to approach it!

Sounds like you know what to do - just add more fruits and vegetables! The first step is buying them. Make it a point to start in the outer aisle at your supermarket and fill up your cart there, or look up farmers markets in your area (you can literally just google "farmers market [your town]" and you should find a couple…

Went to the doctor yesterday and got an x-ray - still pending results, but she said that it would probably be OK to do bike rides. It was a pretty normal run, and I have never had issues with my arches before. Sigh. Am thinking I probably need to skip it.

As my trainer used to say, "INTERVALS INTERVALS INTERVALS". You can't really spot train, you need to burn/lose fat all over. One of the best way to to this is adding interval training to your cardio workouts. Just google interval cardio and you'll find a million things you can do on any machine.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Jackson, you've inspired me to go back and re-check my goals...I had it at 1 lb a week and I think it's time to put it down to 1/2 lb a week. And good point Serendipity...even if the pounds aren't flying off I am definitely slimmer.

Agree with the above posters about muscle, that's definitely a key factor. The other one is frame - you may just have a smaller frame than your friends. I am 5'6, 145 and in size 6...I outweigh most of my friends in the same size and similar height by at least 20 lbs!

Oh, and Weight Watchers has great recipes!

Good advice from the above posters. In a nutshell: protein, water, fiber. Eliminate refined sugar and carbs as much as possible, or reduce to just one "treat" a day. These are super high in calories but don't really satisfy. If you open your diary I'm sure people would have more detailed feedback. Good luck!

I am a chocoholic, and have the worst time particularly in the afternoons. Lately I have been eating berries (strawberries and blueberries for me, raspberries and blackberries I imagine might also work) during that time and have found my chocolate/sweet cravings have all but gone away! I'll eat them with a little bit of…

I'm not sure why you are subtracting the fiber from the calories...the only time I know of that you're supposed to do that is when you're counting carbs. You subtract the total grams of fiber from the grams of carbs to get net carbs. Is that what you're thinking of? As a side note, I would add some protein to your…

One thing I would recommend is try always to incorporate core strength into your routines by doing as much as you can on an unstable surface (for example the Bosu, a foam pad, or the balance boards once you get really good). (BE CAREFUL!!) Like on your lower body days, lunge onto the Bosu, and do your squats on top of it.…

I'm in the same boat! My current fix, which has been working great is as follows: Mix 1 packet of Jello Chocolate Fudge Fat Free/Sugar Free instant pudding mix with 2C of milk (works best with whole, or 2%). Pour into ice cube trays before it completely gels (for me it makes about 17 total). Once it gels, stick toothpicks…

We recently found these "Miracle Noodles" (you can google them). They are made from some root in Japan. They are interesting - kind of have a weird smell right out of the bag, but once you rinse them it goes away. They are a little chewy, but otherwise I've found them to be a more than acceptable substitute. Best thing…

I'm having a tough time with this as well. MFP is constantly "yelling" at me for eating too few calories! Unfortunately (and I'm doing Atkins induction, which you may not be doing), those items that other posters mentioned, like nuts, dairy, etc, are not allowed! I'm just hoping that my body is doing what it's supposed to…

If you're used to running 3 miles or so, and want to amp your calorie burn, I agree with the above poster that upping your speed for short bursts is a GREAT way to increase endurance. You can also do pyramid intervals. Here's a couple of potential and more challenging workouts based on your general speed of 5.2 (feel free…

That sounds about right, and probably on the thin side. Your BMI would be on the low end if I were to take a guess. What's more important is your overall fitness...have you had your body fat measured? Are you overall toned, or a little flabby? There is such a thing as "skinny fat"! So hopefully your slimness comes with a…

count me in!! 10 lbs is probably unrealistic like you said, but why not shoot for the stars? also i like that the weigh ins are sunday since usually i am super bad on the weekends so maybe this will be incentive to not screw up!!

Lots of really great advice here!! I am also a spin convert - I think it is truly one of the best cardio exercises out there in terms of calorie burn. It gets easier to do all the things that are currently hard (standing up gets easier, staying on the seat gets easier) but it is still a HARD workout and you can push…

I've tried a product called Colon Blow (for real, that's its name) a few times and that seems to work for me. I also have a pretty lazy digestive system, and despite going over on my fiber every day, I also still have issues. As far as a daily supplement, Psyllium Husk is a good one. It's pretty gross, but it gets the job…

Get a subscription to Shape or Self magazine - every single month they have at least one "do at home" exercise routine! Plus lots of great stories to inspire you to be the fittest you can be. Good luck and have fun!

Hi Melanie, I'm having the same problem! Fortunately I'm also having the same success with inches lost, but just like you the weight isn't budging, and I'm about at the same time period as you as well. People keep telling me that I'm probably losing fat and gaining muscle, which probably isn't far from the truth, and I'm…

One of our favorite fish dishes is cod or haddock (or similar white fish), drizzle with a little bit of lemon olive oil (or extra virgin olive oil with a spritz of lemon) and some fresh or dried dill, then broil for about 5 min, til the fish is opaque and flaky. There are also a ton of great Weight Watchers cookbooks out…

For me, I focus less on weight and more on whether it's 1 cup, 2 cups, 1/2 cup, etc. However, anything leafy and/or green, just load it up. Anything a little more starchy is probably best to measure.
