• I have three tubs of the Extreme Mlik Chocolate from Optimum Nutrition. It is delicious. Tastes exactly like chocolate milk. Mixes incredibly well. Pretty much the only way I can get protein in my system first thing in the morning is if I drink my protein shake (coconut milk, green supplement, frozen banana, 1 scoop…
• Pardon me if this comes across as criticism, but drinking a protein shake in the a.m. won't do much to increase your metabolism. Increasing you, honestly, is the only way to increase your metabolism (i.e. metabolic rate). And the only way to increase you is to gain fat or muscle. As you gain weight, your metabolic rate…
• You've hit the February Freeze - this is when the difficulty of a getting in shape and losing weight begins to fight back. The initial weight loss surge is beginning to taper off and you have to exercise that much more or be that much more disciplined on your diet to see the same rate of weight loss. A couple things to…
• Very perceptive/intuitive. I'm impressed. First, of all, kudos to all the P90Xophiles out there. I think your point has been made: if you stick with it, P90X works. Health/Wellness/Fitness over a lifetime is more about psychology than physiology. As you noticed, my approach to fitness is about developing sustainable habits…
• LOL, I did see it coming. I welcome any and all criticism of my views. And no, I don't think anyone would be naive enough to take my or your advice wholesale without investigating every angle. I just represent the opposite perspective of yours.
•
IndyFit, since you're discussing Turbo Fire I assume you've done it? I'm currently using Turbo Fire & I keep wondering if any guys have done it. I'm wondering if my DH would find it too 'girly'. Did you find it to be too 'estrogen filled'?
I have not. It's obviously marketed towards women judging by the…
• I would rate Turbo Fire as a Tier II workout for most people on myfitnesspal Again, I'm considering my audience. If I were to post reviews on other forums (e.g. livestrong.com) I would take a different approach. Myfitnesspal caters especially to novice - intermediate level fitness goers who are mostly looking to lose…
• Heather, Brad, and Barbosa Good points, and I'm glad it has worked for you. I have to stand by my original post however. Speaking in generalities and from what I suppose of the audience (which is dangerous because we know what to think of '*kitten*'umptions) P90X would not be a good fit for most myfitnesspal users.
• In terms of recommendations Tier I Body For Life/Eating for Life, Turbulence Training, Jillian Michaels Tier II - P90X, Insanity, Tier III - Pretty much anything promoting supplements or excessive training regimens
• "Eating right and working my way up to be able to run a little bit." What more do you need? Not much in my opinion. See if someone on the military base can show you a few strength training exercises and you'll be well on your way to fitness. Good luck and thanks for your service !!!
• The food totals are generally accurate, especially with the option to review and verify other people's entries. I, like you, however am a bit skeptical of the calorie totals of the exercises. I'll do some research and see what the pros have to say about it. Good question.
• Try counting your steps with a digital pedometer. You could obtain the number of steps you are taking and convert that to calories to get a more accurate account of how much you are burning during the day.
• Thanks for the input! And I was born in Columbus so of course you can participate. My unhealthy foods of choice are Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers, anything from Penn Station, Dr. Pepper, and mocha frappachinos. And even though my philosophy on food is to eat seasonally and eat naturally, my overall philosophy of wellness is that…
