  • Thanks I'm going to that site right now for ideas. I keep changing my in pool routine, much to the amusement of other users  so we have a few laughs along the way which has to be good . The workout classes are in the shallow end so no good for me ( & they banned me for being hyperactive!!!) but I follow some of…
  • I WISH but due to medical problems can only exercise in deep water which I do for minimum of 5 hours per week, even now while injured.
  • ps Wanted to say so many thanks cos just talking about my frustration helps. As my doc said today I have so many medical problems that it makes things difficult especially as nothing can be done any more about any of them. I am fighting to stay out of the wheelchair the docs booked for me 5 years ago & I AM NO QUITTER so…
  • I know what you mean about condiments which is why I rarely use them but add them & measure them if I do. No sugar or sugar substitutes added to things because I never have liked them. My food scales are permanently in use too & weigh in grams. May be I should also have said that I did see a dietician when I first started…
  • My activity style is set to sedentary as cannot walk much due to health issues but I swim at least 5 hours weekly & once in the pool I swim as fast as I can for either an hour or hour & half usually breaststroke but currently aqua jogging due to an injury & usually eat about half my exercise calories but obviously they…
  • Actually I keep my journal after each meal & weigh my portions so know I do not under estimate my intake.
  • Just back from my doctor (in UK) & he has told me exactly the same 1000 calories per day vary a bit e.g. 900/1100/1000 but average 1000 & only a little more after exercise if I absolutely have to. Only exercise I am allowed is in deep water so that restricts me but do 5 hours minimum per week. Can you hrms in pools? Would…
  • Clearly a hormonal issue, one I remember well from years ago when I always felt my best on the pill. No real advice other than to say that things will settle a bit, may be completely as it takes time for your hormones to adjust & your system will probably be in shock at the moment. Try the health shop for some suitable…
  • Not sure if any of this is useful to anyone other than me but apparently if you have arthritis as I have you do need to both drink & retain water to help the joints so am wondering if this is part of my problem, if so doubt there is anything to be done & obviously unless other issues will not be prescribed water tablets as…
  • Almost laughed my *kitten* off!!!! Thanks that is brill.
  • Just another thought I am too old for periods  but still have water retention that varies.
  • So glad I am not alone in this but wish we could find a solution; I even gained 2lbs whilst sleeping!!!!! Currently weighing 6lbs more than my lowest weight in the last 6 weeks so still disappointed. If anyone finds a solution / reason please let me know; I have to takes meds so am seeing my doc as they say they may cause…
  • Thanks for the tips.Don't seem to have the pitting oedema as no obvious swelling.Shall continue activity in deep water, have already made up a program but will be difficult knowing how many extra calories I should have so guess that will be trial & error.at the moment according to this site I usually burn in excess of 1000…
  • May be the clue is in the losing weight on a treat day??? Could it be you aren't eating enough or often enough so your metabolism is very slow? Take heart from my situation at weigh in today weighed 6lbs MORE than last week despite exercising every day & eating under my calories, think it is water retention due to my meds…
  • Feeling your pain as same thing keeps happening to me then suddenly weight comes off, only to seemingly return due to water retention ( mine is more difficult due to my meds). Does sound to me as if you are not eating often enough or drinking enough so even though you have a busy life you MUST eat regularly & drink your…
  • Think it is to do with length of bones rather than anything else which naturally will apply to the width of us so the article mentioning the Williams sisters makes a lot of sense. Not sure what they mean by "ONLY" 10 lbs or so that is a lot!!!!!!
  • I feel your pain as have had a lot of the same problem myself but since I started drinking a mix of teas things have improved a lot. Every morning I make up a mix with 4 green tea bags, 1 peppermint tea bag & 1 digestive tea bag I let that steep for some time then add more water & about 5 ounces of low sugar cranberry…

  • I try to swim for 6 or 7 hours per week & have found that my hair became very straw like. Now I shower before going in the pool & coverr my hair with conditioner before getting in & my hair is much better now.
  • Interesting what you say about the scales but mine seem to be consistent even if I weigh myself several times in the morning. Certainly do hope I have actually lost 6lbs as has been 5 weeks but the 2 or 3 lbs fluctuation seems to suggest that part of my problem may be excessive water retention. Will be interested to see…
  • Thank you for that tip. Yesterday I went to my local Holland & Barrett ( I am in UK) & bought some, also some slimatee & a detox tea & by this morning I weighed 6lbs yes 6lbs less than yesterday!!! So despite the ups & downs I now weigh 10lbs less than I did when I stepped off a plane 5 weeks ago & just over 5lbs less than…
  • Thank you for the encouragement & although I do not intend to give up am very depressed about it all but at least I am not in the wheelchair they said I would be & I shall continue to eat healthily & maybe one day it will begin to work. I drink loads of green tea & or water but I do have stomach problems & my digestive…
  • No thyroid is ok as checked regularly, my meds say the can cause weigh gain but cannot do without them. My diet is healthy with a good variety & little salt so am at a loss what to do. Weather here is very humid this week & think that may cause water retention as am drinking loads of water & green tea (no sugar) but peeing…
  • Many congratulations you look truly stunning.
  • Brilliant many congratulations & enjoy the beach. You look great in your bikini.
  • Yes thyroid checked regularly also for diabetes but all OK.
  • Thanks for the support. I know that logically it has to work providing there are no other factors inhibiting weight loss. In my case it is not possible to change my meds due to a stomach problem & without them my pain is so bad I can hardly move.I am , & always have been, a fairly healthy eater with very little fried food…
