  • Also, you said you have a baby - if you are breastfeeding, that will add a large-ish caloric need right there. I'm about your height, and I would be miserable at less than 1500 Cal per day. In fact, I exercise about 400 per day and eat them all back plus my allotted 1700 or whatever (1/2 lb per week goal loss) because if I…
  • I want to try that bread made with chunks of rude people. ;) Though admittedly it doesn't sound so "clean". --LG
  • Weight - 157 Height - 5'8.5" Hrs/Week - 7.5 (5 days @1.5 hrs mix of cardio, weights, stretching) Weekly Burn (per MFP) - 1600 or so However, I might be under-informing MFP because I sometimes do a few more minutes and think that will account for any measurement errors the other direction in food etc. :) HTH!
  • Ok, that makes sense! I think 170 sounds like a reasonable goal for 5'9", particularly if you're big-boned. Good luck!!!
  • Is it possible that you are now at a good weight for your body? You don't give your height/weight, but I would say that if you have already lost more than 50 lbs, and you've been fluctuating right around a weight you "haven't seen in years," that this could be the reason. But, good luck!
  • I think I accepted the request but maybe I did it wrong. :) I tried! --Leah
  • did you already find a twin? I eat more than most people, too. But I'm older than you... Age: 40 Height: 5'8.5" CW: 156 GW: 151 Body Fat: 23% Goal BF: whatever it becomes at my GW, or current is ok
  • OP - maybe you didn't get replies at first because we were all in shul or offline. :) I did laboriously enter/worry my first MFP Passover (last year) but this year have been much lazier. I will probably regret it. I find that I really miss the complex carbs, and so I crave less-good-for-you carbs (matza and butter anyone?)…
  • I found that I couldn't take a smaller size (didn't lose nearly as much as you, but still my clothes got looser at the waist) - but I did find a tailor to take in a bunch of waistbands. It's so important to honor/follow the body change with clothes that fit your fab new body. :)
  • High school math and science teacher.
  • I wouldn't worry *too* much about sugar; MFP tends to way under-estimate what you can eat. In general, though I realize there is much controversy on these boards, I think that you can eat pretty much unlimited fruit and not worry about its "sugar" due to all the goodies it has nutritionally. Definitely don't go too far…
  • I think it's best when it's in something that is slightly acidic (e.g. with lemon juice or vinegar or wine etc.) because that cuts the slight bitterness that may persist after cooking. Also, I love the red quinoa, especially in a salad that includes black olives. Remember, you need a lot of water to cook it (more than for…
  • I think you should eat moderately during your pg (get pg whenever you like), and keep exercising. Then definitely bf on demand and for a long time (exclusively 4-6 months then with solids after that for at least two years or as desired, per the World Health Organization). This should keep you on track just as though you…
  • How do you know if you are in a good fat %? I guess you have to go get it measured. In grad school I remember there was a thing twice a year at the health center with calipers. I'm also assuming that I can't use my weight-to-fat% correlation from 10-15 years ago, as a correlation now? Because if I could, that would put my…
  • Hi, me too. It's definitely a challenge! OTOH, I seem to eat less on Pesach so maybe the crummy nutrition balances out. :) --LG
  • OTOH - anyone who is 90 and going to the gym gets huge accolades and a fairly wide range of acceptable behaviors. :)
  • Oh, I don't know. As I'm an actual germ-o-phobe, I do usually wipe it down ahead of time so honestly I don't care so much if someone does or doesn't wipe it off after they use it. :) So she seems genuine to me. (But what do I know; I read on the elliptical ha ha)
  • I'm 5'8.5" and 39 yo. When I was in my early 20s and on a hockey team and before any pregnancies, I hovered around 152 and that looked great. I started MFP at 163 [after three kids] last fall and am now at 153-ish and sort of plateaued. I would love to be around 150 b/c I have less muscle now and I think that would look…
  • Well, my peeve is stinky people - yes we all get sweaty, but if you reek like that it's because you didn't shower *last* time. And those people who leave their stuff all over benches so you can't use them. And one woman who dries her disgusting sweaty socks right on top of the shared hair-dryer (which I will never be…
  • I think it's fine to be naked in a locker room, just not in the weight room. :) Also, I do read on the bike, while biking; I thought everyone did that. I wish I were self-confident enough to parade around naked even more than the necessary quick back and forth from the shower, actually.
  • To me it sounds like way too few calories. I'm 5'8.5" and canNOT manage [or at least not without serious exhaustion, crankiness, etc.] at less than 1800 calories, and I really prefer to exercise and go more like 2200 daily. I also see that you're eating a fair amount of "diet" food (egg whites, Lean Cuisine, etc.). I would…
  • One more thing I thought of - for some people, including me, having artificial sweeteners isn't great for digestion. Nor does it always fix the craving. So put the desired fudge or soda or whatever into your log, and see if you are ok with its impact, and then eat it mindfully and savor and love it. :) If you want to be…
  • You could toss with lemon juice and reduce the dressing I suppose, but it already sounds pretty darned healthy. :) I like adding red quinoa and often capers to almost every salad. --LG
  • Way too harsh! OP - just go into the settings and change how much sugar you're "allowed" (or ignore the reading). Many of us on MFP have found that a limit of around 100-150g makes more sense since it's counting all the innate and added, not just the added, sugars. Plus there is no evidence that for healthy (non-diabetic)…
  • I think I set mine at 100 g and then I get some more from exercise. I eat a lot of fruit (which is fantastic for you) and dairy products, and just don't worry about it. MFP works just fine for me anyway. (I don't even track sugar on my homescreen, but it annoyed me to see myself going "over" when I checked, so I raised the…
  • I think you shouldn't do something that makes you sluggish or makes you want to throw up. :) For me, this means not eating within an hour (or 1.5 hours if very extensive workout) beforehand, and yes eating lots and lots of whatever healthy stuff I want and will log, afterwards. So far, so good. :) LG
  • current job: math/science teacher dream job: math/science teacher. Maybe more part-time would be better, but I love my job
  • This happened once and now I keep an extra bra and essentials in a bag in my gym locker. :)
  • How tall are you? Maybe 151-153 is a "good" weight for you? I looked at your diary and what happened on 11/6 :) ? I agree with the previous guys who said eat more and log your exercise. 1200/day, and you're not really even hitting that most days, won't let your body lose weight. Good luck!
