Try to limit yourself to salads while at work...restaurant food is generally jam-packed full of calories.

I have NEVER had a negative thought about overweight people at the gym. Most of the time, I am too focused on my book/ipod/tv to look twice at anyone. If I did happen to notice an overweight person, I would think: good for them, it can't be easy! In short, don't worry :)

YES...the one time I was inconsolably hungry on my current calorie intake was the eve of my period! i say, est a little more...I am not saying spluge but most likely your body is asking for more calories for a reason.

I didn't say parenting was easy. Kids need boundaries, and a nutritional diet is an area that should not be up for debate, since it concerns their health.

Red flag! A lot of teenagers (adults too) use the vegan diet as a cover up for an eating disorder. If she has an eating disorder or history of eating disorders you need to take her to a dietician and watch her like a hawk to make sure she is eating enough or flat-out say no.…

You sure you are entering frozen peas and not canned (sugary)?

Awesome. And yes, they are jealous of your self-control and dedication. Keep it going, girl!

hummus, pakoras, very hot spicy and delicoous chickpeas, stuffed tomatos, eggs and egg-based dishes (they don't actually have to be refrigerated), bruchetta

My skinny boyfriend eats two of those for lunch... Of course a salad would be better, but I think the problem with McDonald's comes with having soda and fries with that sandwich. According to McDonald's website: cheeseburger (300 calories) + medium fries (380) + medium coke (210) = 890 calories

Increase fiber (fresh fruits and veggies, oatmeal) and drink black tea. If that doesn't work, you can take a laxative as a temporary fix. Regarding plateaus, here is what might be going wrong. You... 1. Are retaining water because of that time of the month. This can last anywhere from 5-10 days. There is nothing you can do…

1,200 zig zag. Zig zag is to have high calorie days and low calorie days (think about weekly goal instead of daily goal)...but I eat my exercise calories back. The problem may be you: 1. Are retaining water because of that time of the month. This can last anywhere from 5-10 days. There is nothing you can do about it but…

Oatmeal works well for me! It is light but very filling.

Agreed! It is highly individualized!

1,200/day works for some people...it works for me and I don't feel like I am restricting myself at all! I have only been really hungry on one occasion, and on that day I simply ate more. I eat pasta regularly, but I also find myself making healthier food choices. At the same time, I am a 5'3 female. I imagine it is less…

I think it depends on your calorie intake and how much you are exercising. if you are starting out with a 1,200 calorie/day intake it is definitely not a good idea to do high-intensity workouts without eating some of your calories back.
-
Well, I see your point, and I think it may be true for many people who are already eating too much but if you are exercising for an hour 5x a week and on a 1,200/ calorie intake, I would argue that it is important to eat back at least some of your calories. No nutritionist would recommend less.

Honey, you can do it! There are so many people on here that serve as a testament to that. Here are a few tips! 1. Make short term goals as well as long term goals. 2. Buy a food scale and weigh everything, log everything. 3. Cut out soda and juice, and limit alcohol. 4. Scour recipe websites to learn new, lighter ways of…

Wow, I am so impressed! That is a lot of weight in a short period of time! You look healthier and happier...and so beautiful. It's amazing how dropping the unhealthy extra weight can pull someone's features like that! Props!

Thank you youallonsy...I will try that next time!

Agreed!

No, you can safely lose .5 pounds of fat by reducing your calorie intake to 1,200 and exercising hard everyday. I am currently on a 1,200 calorie a day net regime and I am losing about 1 lb a week. .5 pounds may not seem like a lot - but trust me, you can feel it :) If you are a woman and are bloated from water weight ( a…

My boyfriend has been really supportive this time around - he is even buying my yucky "diet" products for me if at the grocery store (skim milk, cottage cheese) :)

I think it is basically that men and women have different priorities. There are plenty of studies on this.
-
Also excellent advice...I do this without even thinking about it (re: planning in advance).
-
Yeah, definitely eat some fries. You won't be happy until you do - just figure out how many calories each one is (roughly) and allow yourself a fixed amount. Then exercise later to make up for it ;)
