Both! I alternate running days and cross training days where I use weights to work several parts of my body. Weights make you get stronger and gain muscle, and helps you run faster/longer! Both will be good for weight loss.

If your college has a gym go there for a few times a week. That helped me not gain the freshman 15 when I was in college!

I'm in pretty much the same boat you are. I run outdoors along a trail. I'm trying to kick my lower gut with leg lifts and an work 3-4 times a week. My goal is 160...I have got a lot to lose

I used to feel the same way you do. I'm in the same boat with not losing weight and I'm hungry all the time! It's so hard to lose weight, buts it's so worth it in the end! Don't give up on yourself! Use these boards and get ideas and tips! We are all in this together!

No I don't because I'll probably fall or trip lol If I do use anything during runs, I'll use a GU gel. I always drink water and will get Gatoraide at stations on runs.

JVanDillen: Weight loss. The more I run/strength train the better my legs are. It's my upper body that's a hot mess lol I know working out is only 30% of weight loss, so any motivation and tips for eating right will be greatly appreciated! i would just go by actual inches not the scale. i know everytime i get on the scale (not often at all) my weight stays the same. However, my clothes are getting bigger, so I know I'm loosing inches. :smile:

i get on the elipitcal. the one i use has two buttons...one for different levels and depending on the levels it works out diff parts of the body. i start out at 16-17 where it works the butt and calvs. while i'm doing that i do resistance at 10. do that for about 2 miles-3 miles. from there i drop the levels to where i'm…

ok cool thanks everyone for the advice! :) i'll try that captin's chair next time i'm at the gym. i always hit cardio hard. tonight i did 6 miles and 700 calories on the eliptical...i feel great...tomorrow maybe not so much

what helps the lower abs? when i go to the gym i get on an ab machine with 60 lbs of weight. it helps my sides, upper and middle abs, but not my lower!! i have this pooch i'm trying to get rid of!!!:grumble:

i wear either stretchy pants or nike shorts depending on temp. i normally wear pants cus my legs aren't in the best looking shape yet. as for as shirts, i will wear a cotton bra (victoria secret) since i don't have a sports bra (they hurt me b/c i'm too big in the chest), a bodyshaper (sometimes 2) and a t shirt.
