Personally I wouldn't attempt the gym and just lower my calories to take into account the lack of exercise, but the recumbent bike would be the only thing I would attempt if you have to go, please seek medical advice and as already suggested see a sports physio.

You will see a difference soon, and maybe you need to do some toning exercises along with weight loss to promote a leaner torso? I've lost 3 stone since January (20lbs since I joined MFP in June), and I'm still wearing the same size clothes, although they are definitely getting a bit baggy now!

It's a fact that you will lose weight if you drop to 900 or less for a week or so and then your body will react and your metabolism will slow down..
