My husband hate that I use the term alcoholism in relation to him BUT no matter what it is called he has issues with alcohol. He does not ever pass out, he seems to get more energized when he drinks, so when he tries to treat his insomnia with beer he ends up awake until 4AM. Then I end up awake until 4AM as he insists on…

how is this still going?

Assuming your burns are accurate for your heavy exercise days (I am a little woman so it take a few hours of running for me to burn that much so I may be wrong to think the 1650 burn is a bit high) then the question is this A *Is your goal simply to lose weight? B *Is your goal to lose weight AND achieve fitness goals? If…

I am a gluten free, Dairy free vegetarian. I aim to eat a fruit or vegetable at each meal and attempt to balance it with a protein or fat of sorts, like nuts, beans, avocados etc. My main focus is the calories but I will try to make my protein % as high as I can. I don't focus too much on carbs and sugar as they just exist…

Gluten is not a macromolecule group like protein, fat, or carbohydrates. You do not need it. You can replace gluten and still eat carbs..ie rice, potatoes, corn products etc. It will not hurt you to stop eating gluten if you want to as you can get the nutrients else where...it is not like a person is giving up protein or…

A class of 6 crabby old women (I would feel differently if they were sweet but they are vicious) in water aerobics that will pitch a fit if one lap lane is left up during their class. This one guy who does not look that fit (he may be very smart sure) that will stop people when they are working out to tell them how to eat…

During the school year when I have to go to the gym at the *kitten* crack of dawn, the gym is playing good music (in my opinion) It isn't speed metal but it is edgier alternative stuff from my college days. Any other time it is top 40 but the volume is pretty low to the point where you have to strain to hear it. I stopped…

If you are running 4-5 miles regularly you will be fine. Look up Hal Higdon beginner half marathon plans. They are free and get a lot of people through a lot of races. You will likely only run up to 10 miles before the race knowing that race adrenaline will get you through the rest.

In all honesty, I sometimes stare at others. It is out of no judgement what so ever. I often forget my music so I can get a little bored if I am on a stair machine or bike. Sometimes to keep myself from looking at the timer/clock incessantly, I will find something to focus on other than my exercise...ie I might say I will…

Any changes you make could take your body a little while to adjust to. Give the calorie goal 2 more weeks and if nothing starts moving the way you want it to then reassess.

A number of years of ago when I was ready to drop the last 20 lbs after having 4 kids I started with a an easy philosophy of leaving at least a bite on my plate. I might make a sandwich and I would cut it into 1/4's. I would eat 3/4 of the sandwich and wrap the rest with the knowledge that I "could" eat it later if I was…

My 11 year old and her friend were talking about how I eat...no meat, no dairy, no gluten (on advise of a dr) but that I do eat eggs. My daughter's friend said I was a Presbyterian just like her mom. I think I will stick with that, even though it is wrong it is funny and that is so much more important. LOL Look up GFB…

It would be fun if you found a way to workout together. My kids like to do videos with me. The younger 2 kids are 6 and 9 and they will do a p90x video on their own in the winter when they are bored..they are nuts...LOL My kids love if I find ways to incorporate them into my workouts but sometimes I have to just tell…

nothing wrong with a slow jog....run until you want to stop but know you don't need too and then run 1 minute longer...finish up with a 10 min walk....each week add a minute to your jog. You will get there. No one said it had to be fast.

you have to distribute the calories in a way that is sustainable for you. I do about 300-400 for breakfast, 300-400 for lunch, about 200 for a snack, around 500-600 for dinner and leave a little room for an evening snack. I do not mind that feeling of looking forward to my next meal during the day, but if I feel hunger in…

This does not sound like a fun relationship and if it does continue Mommy will never ever go away. This will be your future, even if he moves out and you two get married, she will be ever present unless he is willing to completely disown her, which is unlikely as he is her mother and he loves her. If this is not a…

It isn't always justification to starve and binge. In fact, the idea of weekly averages has helped me not starve and binge. I started following TDEE philosophy but still log my exercise calories just so I can track my weekly NET calorie average. By watching my weekly averages I forgive the days when I eat more, something i…

I do not think it is necessary to bump up the calories any more if you still want to lose, unless of course you feel like you are losing too fast or you are feeling hungry all the time.

I don't have any advice at this moment but I do commend you for working so hard on your recovery. I promise, you will find a comfortable spot, it took me a long time but I think I am sitting there and I am sure you will too.

I was feeling way to lay to cook brussel sprouts tonight and laughed at myself as I ate a bunch of gherkins instead...LOL

as to the names of the categories..we have decided as a society what obese looks like and if in our own heads we do not look like the image of obese than the rating scale must be wrong. The scale is not wrong. Our image of obese, overweight etc is skewed. The categories were named a long time ago but the health risks…

If we were to apply BMI to all the parents that drop their kids off at my kids' school it would be an appropriate measure for at least 85%-90% of the people of the potential health factors, even when 60% of those people would argue a reason the scales don't fit them for some reason...ie big bones etc. The categories,…

so I actually have a wheat sensitivity, as diagnosed by 2 separate allergists, the easiest way to avoid wheat is to go gluten free so call it what you want, people tend to understand gluten free as opposed to wheat free and therefore should they care (which I have not asked them to care)

Thanks....I was sent to him by runner friends, but actually now that I think of it, they are friends that do a race from time to time and then don't run for 12-18 months until they get the urge. I run to live and live to run. Getting sidelined is not ok to me. So maybe I need a new doc. I wore them today just walking about…

My husband backs into EVERY spot ALL the time. He is a fireman. They back the rigs into the firehouse after a run so that they can pull out safely when called. He is really good at it. In my neighborhood, in which most men are firefighters or police officers, backing in is the norm. The wives not so much.

could be.... try it without it. I would leave off an ingredient and see what I thought. If i didn't miss the ingredient (cheese) then I didn't get it next time.

Sometimes, when my son was about 2, and over 30 lbs I would put him up on my shoulders and walk to go get his sisters at school. Even being a fitness fanatic it made me tired so I logged it as walking with a load...which is in the database. Otherwise i wouldn't even log the walk to go pick up the kids as that was daily…

I was told 500 calories extra a day until about 6 months then figure 300 extra. I would bump back up to the extra 500 if it seems baby is going through a growth spurt. I would just add it to your calorie goal until you finish BFing...

You might be getting winded as you running too fast. Many beginning runners struggle when they start because they run too fast to start.
