Welcome Jody! you are so right about the motor being the most important aspect of a bike

Yep it pays to build a good relationship with a good LBS :drinker:

Should be fairly quiet, is it lubed up?

I used to have a trainer when I lived in Canada, hated that thing, I then got a set of roller, yeah, learning curve, but I certainly liked it a lot more. Have you had a pro bike fit done? I did that a while ago, cost a bit of money, but well worth it, I was able to set up my road bike very well. A TV/Laptop and some of the…

Here in Tokyo, the best cycling paths are along several of the larger rivers, and you ALWAYS get a headwind on the ride home! Funny video for sure!

Nice stable of bikes! I rebuilt from the aluminum up my old 1988 Cannondale SM700 a while back, recently chopped the dropouts off it and build track forks for it, turned it into a single speed for bombing around town... Vertical dropouts gone!! Track forks built. I just love it all over again! I also recently built…

Don't you just LOVE Disc Brakes

Welcome Ben! I've done a similar thing as you, and I too am working on it with the bike!

Welcome TriJoe!

The first few miles are cold, cold cold! That sucks but if you are warm right out the door, you will sweat, and then really freeze later! My rule of thumb is to keep your hands and feet warm, good gloves and maybe even glove liners work, as well as good winter shoes, I like the Shimano MT-71s and some Gore-Bike Goretex…

I'm not a girl, nor do I live in LA, but I am a cyclist, so thanks for accepting the friend request!

Very nice stable of bikes you have there! Your images did not post because in the link from PB there is a space...... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt357/chriscarley_photos/MFP bikes/IMG_20111222_154054.jpg .... right in the middle there it says /MFP bikes/ The software here fills that space in with a %20 and that…

1988 Cannodale SM700 converted to Single Speed, will build a Fixie wheel for it sometime soon! My Charge Mixer 8 in trailer tugging livery. This bike had a Nexus 8 speed hub, and Shimano hydraulic disk brakes, I've lowered the gearing on it for heavy loads and hills, so around town without the trailer I'm constantly…

I recently converted my old Cannodale MTB to a single speed, I'm using a single cog on the old wheel, so it free wheels, but I will be building a new wheel for this bike sometime soon, and then I'll be able to do the flip flop from single speed to fixie  I have a buddy here who is really driving the fixie thing…

Welcome Elly! A 50 mile tour sounds like a nice day out for sure! Cheers!

Fantastic! I can imagine that anyone you meet that you have not seen for a while would walk right by you. Thanks for posting! :drinker:

Hi folks! I've been a member since June 12, 2010, and I only lost a day or two when I was in the the hospital for cancer surgery, the cancer is gone now but I lost a few days, and as I'm in Japan I sometimes get dropped even though I did NOT miss a day, has to do with the timezone thing. This got mentioned to the staff…

mbcarreno08,I usually have something like carrot sticks or some other veggie with the soup. I also try to eat at least five times a day, small quick meals, I find this suits my work/lifestyle and I'm not getting hungry all the time. Nearly 400 calories times 5 times a day is too high for me. Great to hear your hubby is on…

Ditto what the Big Yin says, just having fun, and a bit green with envy, that is one nice ride! I hope you can find some pedals and take it for a spin soon! :drinker:

I was just drooling over the bike bit I did not catch that, nice catch Yin! Here are some rules to help guide you..... *********** Rule #26 Make your bike photogenic. When photographing your bike, gussy her up properly for the camera. Valve stems at 6 o’clock. Cranks around the 30 degree mark. Not 90 or 180. Chain…

Late to this thread, sorry, but congrats on the new ride, looks fantastic!

Welcome! I too sent you a request, thanks for accepting it! :drinker:

What part of your knee hurts? Inside, outside, back of the knee? It will be money well spent to get a pro bike fit, will save you a LOT of time, just do it!
-
Well, I am in Japan you know
-
Brilliant....... literally

This is very critical, here in Tokyo it is really bad, I have "FUN" every day on the bike tugging my trailer doing deliveries, at night I wear a high Vis vest like this..... as well as a bright headlight, and a bright light on my helmet, think miners light, two bright flashing red lights on my trailer and a bright flashing…

I do, but I have an excuse, I live in Tokyo on the 7th floor and lugging them up and down in the elevator would not be cool, at least they are undercover and locked up well!

I like to tinker on my bikes.....
