I'm really sorry team #2 I had three intense 18 hour days at a trade show, then I got really sick, must have been those long days, standing 12 hours a day and talking until my voice was raw, and interacting with thousands of strangers. I've had such a bad summer cold for the last three days I only did a lousy 5Km on the…

Hey Yin, I was wondering if you have any kind of running totals for us....? How are we doing? Cheers!

Yep did 32Km on a nice cool lonely (as in few cars!) night ride, I like these night rides!! I think I might be part vampire:laugh: Since my skin cancer thing I'm not that down on being out in the brutal hot sun for 8+ hours at a time, I'd rather do it in the dark! :drinker:

First off I thought we were talking about cycling, and recreational cycling at that, not racing  Racing is a whole nother ball of wax, this site being what it is, I did not think the discussion was between Ironman level athletes, I'm certainly NOT one  Yin, you are right that a modern energy bar has a…

In general I agree with you are saying, but it really depends on how long and how hard you are going. I've ridden lots of 100 - 150 Km rides, but I don't ride that fast, so it will take me from 6 to eight hours to do that kind of distance. In a normal day I would be consuming at least one meal in that time frame, so I…

The Nutella and the oatmeal are the main ingredients, usually they have about equal amounts, then the other ingredients will make another third, but really, you can play with it, each batch I make are different, so there is really no set recipe. The egg whites are what hold them together, so they are kind of important, I…

I just saved another one, then using a graphics editing program changed the details. What flag(s) do you want?

I don't like the storebought stuff, too many things in them that I don't think should be in me  Bananas, they are great, and the wrappers are biodegradable! A quick and easy energy drink is some real Cocacola the kind with sugar in it, mixed with water, maybe 50-50 or 30-70 the little hit of caffeine can be good…

Oh yeah, about the backpack, a rear rack would be better than a front basket, the basket loaded can really screw up your handling. Also go do a Google image search punch in "Bicycle Touring" and look at the pictures, I bet you will see very few people touring with back packs, there is a reason for this! Cheers!
-
That sucks! Could be a lot of things, but getting your back pack off your back and onto your bike should help, but, it could also be the fit of your bike. Have you ever had your bike fitted to your body? Most good bike shops will do this when you buy the bike, but not all. Find a good bike shop and get them to check your…

What, no touring bike  That is a great selection of bikes, you really have all the bases covered, thanks for sharing! :drinker:

Great info, thanks for sharing! If you still have some life left in those slicks, before you buy tyres with the puncture proof layers, why not put some tyre sealant in your existing set up? I have tyre sealant in my bike I use daily hauling beer around Tokyo, and the trailer I tug, over a year now and not one flat, knock…

Welcome to the group! I'm sorry I'm not as active this summer here as I'd like to be, very busy this year with work etc. Please jump in on some of the threads on this group, lots of cyclist here for sure! Again, welcome! :drinker:

I read this on my iPhone originally, so I just want to check, the goal is for the whole group to do collectively the mileage that the racers do each day, right? So on say day 4 Mountains Tuesday 21 August Barakaldo > Estación de Valdezcaray 160,6 km the goal would be for the nine riders in each team to do a total of 160.6…

There are a lot of good tyres out there that will fit your bike, they are called "Slicks" and compared to most MTB tyres they roll so much easier! Some questions: How heavy are you? If you are really heavy, like I was, over 300 lbs, when I got back on the bike, then the 26" x 2" tyres will be a good choice, lots of tyre to…
