Almost 20 years vegetarian, also grain-free, dairy-free, and multiple allergies, so I am not your run of the mill convenience food vegetarian. Always interested in trying new food experiments and eating things that are really yummy! Pam

Anorexia (poor appetite) is a symptom. It may be a symptom of a number of diseases or disorders. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder. But not the only one, as you noted. Pam

Run keeper for me too. And using the ismoothrun app. Pam

Ecclectic. My kiddo has ADHD, possible FAS, lots of learning disabilities. So everything is geared directly for his abilities, interests, and attention span.

You think? Yeah, you're starving yourself! Pam

That's what I was going to say too. When I do fast, it is for religious reasons, not weight loss, and I'll indicate it in my food notes so that people know what's going on. Pam

Fibro may also be the result of non-celiac gluten intolerance too, so a negative celiac test does not mean that gluten free eating won't help you. Celiac tests are also notorious for false negatives, so you really can only be sure by trying the diet yourself. But as others have said, if you are going to get a celiac test,…

My son's bmom was allergic to grass, and he reacts to grains (grass family). A lot of oral allergy syndromes are worse when certain pollens are in the air. For example, if you are allergic to birch, then you may react to kiwi, greens and spices from the parsley family, hazelnuts, sunflower, beans, figs, nightshades,…

Taco salad! (A favourite around here, one that I still manage to adapt being vegetarian, grain free, and dairy free!)

I haven't noticed that issue, but I have definitely had the cold hands the last few weeks. Temps that I only needed one pair of gloves at back in November, I am now dealing with numb, freezing fingers. Have to wear another pair of gloves to keep warm at the same temp. Pam

I love my fitbit! But it is not a heart rate monitor. It is more of a pumped-up pedometer. Pam

Sore mouth and can't breath - allergy, not intolerance. In yogurt, the proteins are partially digested by the bacterial culture, so that may be why you're okay with that. You can be allergic to something and never have it show up on an allergy test. They can be funny that way. The "gold standard" for a food allergy is if…

Allergies can be mild or severe. With a mild allergy, you might be okay to eat a bit now and then, with a serious one you may be dead with a little bit of cross-contamination. Pam
-
Huh. Not sure I'd want that. Pam

What happens? Most doctors don't understand allergies vs. intolerances. Either one can be mild or severe. A mild allergy is not an intolerance, and a severe intolerance is not an allergy. Things like itching, swelling, hives, shortness of breath, cold or sweating, etc. are signs of allergy, not intolerance. Pam

If I have salted, roasted nuts around the house, my husband and son will gobble them up. If I only have raw, unsalted nuts, they are far more moderate. So I would suggest just getting a small amount of raw nuts each week, measuring them into 1 oz portions or whatever you have allowed yourself, and only taking one portion a…

You can do it. Start the first week by doing the most fun exercise you can find for as long as you want. Maybe wii? Dancing to music? Going for a walk? The next week add some variety. Maybe some exercises you don't like quite as much, follow up with your fun exercise as a reward. Drink lots. Buy your favourite fruit for a…

You can do it. Play some active games with the kids and teach them about fruits and veggies. Go for a walk to the park when the weather is nice. Start easy. Pam

Yesterday's leftovers and some easy snacks like veggies and hummus, apples and pb. Pam

Eat the same things, but in different proportions. If I prepare, say, (our vegetarian and allergy free version of) taco salad, then for myself I will dish up: lots of green salad a cup of bean chili onion, salsa, wee bit of guacamole a few chips on the side (terra chips for me, because I can't have corn) my son will dish…

One thing that I found when I first started trying to lose the weight (after years of refusing to weigh myself and considering myself healthy weight, not overweight) was that we really don't know what "normal" and "overweight" look like any more. And if I'm seeing that in Canada, it must be even more of an issue in the US.…
-
Canada's rates of overweight/obesity are quite a bit below the US, though still rising. Interesting, since we eat a lot of the same foods, have a lot of the same fast food chains, etc. Also, since our population is so much more spread out than in the US, we spend a lot more time in our cars rather than walking (just look…

Sleep is probably more important for you than exercise. Lack of sleep will contribute to weight problems, lack of energy, etc. So you may do best just watching your calories and getting as much sleep as you can. My workout time is 5:30-7:30 a.m., walking to the bus after work, and maybe a short workout at 9:00 p.m. Pam

Myth - complementary proteins - limiting amino acids - vegetable proteins are incomplete. Not. Theory recanted decades ago. Pam

I was just thinking about this the other day. I saw a commercial for reruns of "Roseanne". I remember when that show first ran - Roseanne was huge. There weren't fat people on TV. But she and Dan were this huge, obese couple. But on the commercial . . . she didn't look nearly as big as I remember. She looked . . . pretty…

Eat after your workout. Eat at night. Do what works for you. Pam

I work full time, and homeschool my LD teen the rest of the time. Both hubby and son have sleep disorders, so some nights I don't get much sleep. My husband is home with the son during the day, so the house is a mess when I get home. I cook all from scratch, as I am vegetarian, dairy free, grain-free, with other allergies…
