I have a chart showing some of the triggers and suggested diet to follow for colitis and other inflammatory bowel disease (as well as celiac and other special diets). If you want to message me your e-mail address, I will send it to you. There are actually two separate dietary recommendations for IBD, one when you are on a…

I have only run one race so far, and I was quite concerned about the hills. So the last few weeks I was training, I ran hills as much as I could. I never got to the elevations of the race course, which I had not seen in person, but I did all I could. And they weren't bad at all. I was doing walk/run intervals, and if a…

Wow, what activities did you do?

My goal for my next is - go faster.

Have you called the restaurant ahead to see how the chef can accommodate you? Look at the various ingredients and side dishes mentioned in the menu and ask him to pull something together for you. Or bring your own unopened bag of pasta, sauce, salad, etc. and have him prep it.

The grass is always greener on the other side, right? We all have to work hard to succeed in both child rearing and weight loss, whether we work outside the home or not. It always seems like it must be easier for others. We see or hear them doing "everything" right, but our own lives are messy, and it is hard work to make…

It can be hard to get your head around this if you are a celiac who is symptomless, or you don't have obvious or severe reactions. But it still makes you sick. Avoid it like the poison it is for you.

Hmm, I tried lentils in the rice cooker once and they foamed all over the floor. Maybe because they were split red lentils instead of whole lentils. Or maybe I did too many, not accounting for the foaming.

Ingesting even a crumb is enough to make some people extremely sick. There is no way you can put something in your mouth and chew it up and not swallow a tiny crumb of it afterward. Besides which, you will never wean yourself off of those gluten foods and may not have the willpower to spit it out afterward. I wouldn't…

Ackkk! I hear you!

So why did you do it? You need to answer that in order to move forward. You made your own gluten-free cake. Why did you feel the need to eat a bite of the gluten cake? For that matter, why did you make your friend a gluten cake instead of a gluten-free cake that would be okay for you to eat too?

About 175 km.

Maybe the reason that you lack energy for cardio is because your carbs are too low. I've read accounts by runners who try going low-carb, and it just doesn't fuel them properly to run.

Me too!

If you are eating 1600, minus 400 for exercise, minus 400 for breastfeeding, then you are netting 800. Way too low! I wouldn't have any energy either. And I'd be grumpy, headachy, etc.

Huh, just re-reading. For some reason I thought you said you had eggs. I must have picked that up from one of the other posters!

- shepherd's pie - stir fry - pasta and veggies in a white sauce - potato pancakes - vegetable omelet - pasta and meat in a red sauce - roasted potatoes and veggies - baked potato - fried eggs and hash browns - scalloped potatoes - potato, meat, and veggie hash What else do you have or can get on the cheap? Rice and…

Most of the stuff in my diary should be okay for you, other than the obvious peanut butter or bread (grain free and dairy free, but not yeast free). Feel free to ask!

I put on weight when I went gluten free. I am quite capable of gaining weight on any restricted diet! I really have to watch portions and calorie dense treats (even if they are whole unprocessed foods!) But if you are overweight because of inflammation, water retention, and because your body isn't getting the nutrients it…

I have given up all grains. My dad is celiac and has also found that he is sensitive to corn and sorghum, and has just gone grain free, realizing that rice is bothering him too. My son also reacts to both corn and rice, but isn't ready to give them up yet.

When we were in the US, we found quite a bit of GF vegetarian meats. Several brands of burgers and soy meats, some veg/gf/dairy free pizzas, pastas, etc. Here there are no tofu pups, and only one kind of gf veggie burger. But there's lots you can do with beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, tofu, tempeh, quinoa, etc So much…

What else are you folks allergic to? I am also vegetarian, dairy free, allergic to some nuts, dates, fresh pineapple. Sometimes have issues with oral allergy syndrome, ulcers, and fructose intolerance if I overdo it on the high-fructose fruits.

You've already friended me, but for others who are looking, I'm here too.

So, with last-minutes changes, it ended up just being hubby and myself for this meal. Which is one of the reasons I wasn't buying anything until the last minute! You never know how many you are preparing food for! Of course, two people is also challenging because you can't prepare as wide a variety, as all of the extra…

Just finished my first half! 2:32 finish time. I was aiming for under 3:00!

Absolutely not. Gluten is what makes that white bread so nice and soft and elastic. Get rid of it. It will not help your detox or cravings. It will make it worse. If you can't get or afford or make your own bread, then live on whole foods of other sorts - fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, beans, potatoes, rice, etc. White…
