Everybody is suggesting almond, but I'm going to say soy, because I'm allergic to almonds and therefore everybody should stay away from them. Seriously, try both and see which you like and which feels better for your body.

Like Judith said - organize some activities that focus around the things that support your goals - walks, hikes, zumba, Just Dance 3 with the kids, etc. Often when we get together with the family, we take the kids to the playground, you could play frisbee or football or something. Learn to separate the socializing from the…

You need to give the gluten a chance to get out of your system for a while before reintroducing it. Six to twelve weeks would be a good goal. But also remember that if you want to be tested for celiac, you need to eat gluten for the test to be positive. When I first went off of gluten I was so tired and wanted to sleep all…

I've only been running for less than a year. -25C coldest so far. I stayed warm enough, but my face mask always fogs up my glasses, which makes it hard to see curbs and ice patches. Have run in a couple of blizzards; warmer, but wetter/harder to see. Crazy Canuck!

Another thing that helps for the stomach pain/throwing up is tonic water. My husband and son both seem to be about 3 days to fully recover. DS throws up within a few hours, and that's fine the next day, but still a few days for behaviour to get back within normal parameters. For me, it is more like a week or two before…

Up your calories. If you don't have enough fuel, you don't have enough energy to get through your day or work out. You are consistently 500 calories or more under your goal and you are working out and not eating your workout calories. On a day like yesterday, you are netting under 600 calories. That is not enough, and your…

Glad things are going well so far. Yes, it can be time-consuming to make all your own food, especially at the beginning. As time goes on, you fall into patterns and it is not so time and energy consuming.

I agree with cutting down on those "extra" "empty" calories, but the food doesn't have to be bland! Spices are some of the strongest antioxidants out there.

Food is very important for mental health and can have a huge impact on mood. Supplement omega 3's for sure and try to make sure you have a lot of them in your diet (fish, flax, walnuts, greens). Take magnesium and a good B complex stress tab. Make sure you are getting enough carbs. Very important for mood. A well-balanced…

Salads, soups, chili, curry, beans, lentils, peas, vegetables, fruits, pancakes/crepes, potatoes, buckwheat, quinoa . . . I'm certainly not here because I can't find anything to eat! My diary is open to friends.

I've made this one: http://sketch-freeveganeating.blogspot.com/2012/01/tempeh-breakfast-sausage-patties.html Nice and quick. It really doesn't need the water and flour. And I used a different kind of oil rather than rice bran oil, as I am grain-free. Here are some more I haven't tried:…

Chances are that such a reduction in gut flora is due to a reduction in prebiotics, not probiotics, since the average American gets 80% of prebiotics in the diet from wheat: http://www.jacksongi.com/2011/prebiotics-and-the-gluten-free-diet/ If you simply replace gluten products (wheat bread) with gluten free products…

Friend me. I am vegetarian, completely grain free, dairy free, multiple allergies. I run and work out 1.5-2 hrs per day. I work full time, single-income family, and homeschool my LD son. My diary is open to friends, so you can browse through and get some ideas of things that might fit both your diet and your income.…

I am gluten free (actually grain-free, no corn or rice or anything either), dairy free, vegetarian, and some other allergies. I love to eat and finds lots of things I can eat. You can do it! My husband and son are also veg and gluten free, son is dairy free. My dad is also gluten free, and multiple allergies and I suspect…

Exactly. I work full time, cook everything from scratch (multiple allergies), homeschool my LD son, and am in charge of the children's ministry at my church. Among other things. I still have time to work out every day, menu plan, grocery shop, etc. You can do it too, if you decide to stop making excuses. You can do it!

I subbed quinoa flakes for the oats and half a diced apple and some cinnamon for the blueberries (since I don't have any berries on hand) and it turned out fine. Have made it twice and need to experiment a bit with the cooking time. I have been cooking for long enough to soften the apples, which I think is a bit long for…

So you obviously don't want to be doing a late night or early morning workout, since you need to work on getting yourself more sleep - being short on sleep can pack on the pounds. What about taking the stroller or papoose pack and going out for a walk?

This is the pancake recipe I make: http://www.grainfreeliving.com/recipes/pancakes/82-buckwheat-pancakes You don't need the cream of tarter. I usually add a tbl of psyllium and a tbl of hemp powder as well. Pam

How about gluten? It's another possible IBS trigger. Have you increased it at all?

I have been stalked and harassed in the early morning while running. Had to call 911 once. I am also in Canada and now carry bear spray (I have also been menaced by big dogs and seen coyotes and foxes on my runs, so I have lots of good reason to carry it).

If it was me, I would do it on one of your rest days, and before strength training. You might have to juggle your days a bit to find what works for you. When I do a short run (5K or less) I still do weights or other cardio afterwards. And Saturday when I do my long run, I usually will also do yoga, dance, etc. later on too.

Great job! I have been working on getting back up some distance as my knee has been tender lately, but getting better now. I made my goal distance this morning too (-25C and dark!) We are awesome!

Don't know what you can get there, but some that I can find in Canada (and we don't get the Chex or gf Rice Krispies) are: - Enjoy Life Granola - Nature's Path corn flakes - Erewhon Rice Krispies

Not to be mean, but did you seriously think that three main courses and part of hubby's would only clock in at 800 calories? That they would only be 250 cal each? Maybe a bit of wishful thinking there. Next time stick to one main course and a bottled water. Or find somewhere that has dishes with less fat and more…
