  • What a sweet guy you are! And inspiring, as well! BTW....thanks for your service to our country!
  • Cheese has been a part of my diet since the beginning and I have lost weight. The key IS moderation. I don't eat it every day and I make sure that I buy the lowest cal cheese I can find but it is also a good source of dairy, especially for those who are lactose intolerant. I am making life style changes that I will be able…
  • I wanna play! My current weight is 236.1. Such a great idea and wonderful motivation! Good luck everyone!
  • 10 more miles added this week for a total of 40 miles since starting!! Woot! I just might make that 100 mile mark afterall!! Where is everyone??
  • Mind if I climb on this boat too? Uhg...I thought I had all the time in the world to lose the extra pounds but seems now that I am over the big 40, the metabolism isn't what it used to be, neither are the joints!
  • Welcome aboard! :) I've found it challenging because of the heat but try to get some sort of walking in daily even if it is only here in the house and jogging in place! Good luck!
  • 2.1 more! Yippee!
  • no tip!
  • Great job on the weight loss before joing MFP!! I am sure you will keep seeing the scale move downward now that you have joined. Good luck on your new journey and feel free to add me as a friend! :flowerforyou:

  • I would suggest eating peanut butter or nuts. High in protein and really good for your heart. If you are having this problem every day, try just eating a handful walnuts twice a day but watch your fat count. If I am low on cals for the day I will have a few graham crackers with peanut butter on it. Yum!
  • If you use the light olive oil you can use it for baking. I can't tell the difference and it is pretty much all I buy now! Thanks for the recipe....Imma have to try this one.
  • I'm still here!! I logged 5 more miles this week. Eh...not so good but the heat has been TERRIBLE! Only 99 today with a heat index of 114!! Love the new pedometer for my phone and have been tracking whenever and wherever I go. I may not make the 100 mark but I sure am gonna try! Have a great weekend everyone!
  • Hang in there, modify what you can and eventually you will be doing it better than Jillian! :)
  • YUM! Thanks for posting! I was looking for a new way to incorporate cauliflower into our diet and this will work wonderfully. I'm excited to try it!
  • How did I know that you would pop up on here Lioness?? It is the simple explanation that I was going for not all the medical mumbo jumbo. She needs the carbs, balances with the protein. I do believe I said that. But alas...I digress... I'll let you continue with your education of the masses.
  • It's very important to educate yourself and to be aware of your family history. Along with the websites that were provided already, check out the American Diabetes Association website as well. They have tons of info on there and is another wonderful website to help you understand the process. Speak with your doctor the…
  • You really shouldn't be going so long without eating. Focus on your carb intake and balance it with protein. Eat a good breakfast and have a midmorning snack like a banana or apple slices. You need the carbs to keep your energy up. hypoglycemia is merely someone who doesn't get enough carbs. You would carry a snack with…
  • So I have been terrible about keeping up with this and have only walked 10 miles since the last sign in. I hurt my knee doing the JM30DS so had to scale back on some things. Hoping things start feeling better in the next day or so. It has also been brutally hot here so walking in this heat wasn't something I wanted to do…
  • I have the knee pain as well and replaced the jumping jacks with jogging in place while still doing the arm movements. The butt kicks were hurting my knees as well. I am finding that the high impact stuff does NOTHING for my knees. I have foot pain because I have a screw in my ankle so I don't know if that is just the…
  • I know it is difficult because I have done it 4 times! Don't worry about things that haven't happened yet. It sounds like you have your mind in the right place to make a better you and you are obviously mindful of the "mindless" eating. If you do find yourself wanting something to eat just eat something healthy. Pretty…
  • My first suggestion would have been fruit but have you thought of maybe a drink like Vitamin Water? The cals aren't all that bad but it does have the carbs. Obviously not the Zero kind...check out the 10 cal bottles and see what the carbs are. If not that just buy the full version. You'll be getting hydrated at the same…
  • Do not...I repeat do not...buy the Dancing With The Stars DVD. It is so boring!! You learn 3 dances and although it is a good workout, if you aren't in excellent shape don't expect to make it through the whole dance. The trainers are not very engaging and the one guy on there doesn't seem like he is the brightest bulb in…
  • Five words ~ Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred!! $10 at WalMart and holy moly does it kick your butt!
  • Are you on any sort of Prednisone/steroid treatment? Steroids will not let your body absorb the potassium and depletes your level tremendously! With that said, my husband suffers from the type of leg cramps you describe and was told by his doctor to take a potassium supplement and to also eat a tablespoon of Blackjack…
  • My family had a big BBQ yesterday and I did the same thing. Ate a light lunch, cooked for 3 hours, walked and ate a salad for lunch. Didn't have a very good dinner and even indulged in a small piece of low fat cake and 2 HIGH fat chocolate chip cookies. Let my food settle and challenged my children, husband and various…
  • Happy 4th of July to you, Ed. Thank you for your sacrifices. From one American to another, OOOORAH!! :flowerforyou:
  • Jillian Michaels 30 Day Crunch is an awesome way to work the abs and arms! $10 at WalMart and the best $10 I have spent. I've lost 2 inches off of my waist and hips and an inch off my upper arms. I have a lot more to lose than you do so will probably lose more but the tone and definition are great! BTW...I admire you for…
  • I've not walked as much as I want too this week. Been busy with the kiddo's but did walk around WalMart (not shopping, it was intentional!) and put in another 1.5 miles. I got a few strange stares but who cares??? I did my walk and THEN I shopped but did not count those steps. Started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Crunch this…
  • Your regular calories are what MFP sets for you...mine is 1,490. Your net calories are calories you earn from exercise. Net calories equal your regular calories plus your exercise calories. You can eat the extra if you want, or not eat them. See what works for you. I call them insurance calories! :)
  • I have mine set at 1 1/2 lbs. per week and have lost an average of 2 lbs. per week. I figure that way if I lose only a lb. one week and 2 the next, I am doing what I am supposed too. I don't feel cheated and sometimes feel as if I am eating WAY to much but the calorie counter says different and so does the scale.
