Also an INTJ--every time I've taken it over the past 20 years, with very little variation on the strength of the categorization. I'm nearing the end of my Navy career, and will transition into Secondary/Higher Education.

You should consider that mission accomplished!

WHAT???!!!!!????? Is that a typo, 49? You are definitely bikini ready--but the real question is whether or not the bikini could possibly be ready for you?

Already feeling the heat!

I started running 3 years ago and was clocking about 9:15/mile until I dropped the weight. Been getting progressively faster since, turned 40 a couple weeks ago and my regular training pace is 7:45/mile, race pace just over 7:00. It was just a matter of protecting the time needed to put in the mileage every week.

Piling onto this one--having my gait and form analyzed and then fitted for the right shoe prevented re-occuring hip and IT Band injuries caused by my overpronating. I ran in those shoes until I trained my body to proper running form and moved down to more minimalist shoes last year. The right shoe makes ALL the difference…

If you use the National Running Center website, their annual PR Club membership is DEFINITELY worth it. Gives you an extra 10% off everything, 20% of some apparell or shoe items, and free shipping all year on any order, for $30/year. I buy a lot of my stuff from them!

Damn, man. Impressive! Your legs had to be quivering, jellyfied messes by the end of the week!

Weight and average heart rate both make a big difference. Any run of 7+ miles at my normal training speed will put me over 1,000 cals burned.

I have three different pairs, depending on what type of run I am planning. My minimalist shoes for 5k and treadmill running (Saucony Kinvara) will probably only last about 250 miles total; my other Sauconys (Cortana) are my regular training run shoes and marathon shoes, and I expect them to give me between 350-400 (about 4…

My wife and I both belong to LA Fitness. $30/month each, we love the group instructors there for Zumba and Yoga, and I do spin classes there 2x a week. She just started running and isn't comfortable out on the roads yet, and it also gives her a chance to get some relaxing time in the afternoons before the boys get home…

If I were single, and she said yes....absolutely!

False!!! I love my beagle. Hate the cats in the house. TNP is a big fan of LEGOs.

Maybe.....can't really see her well. :(

This was taken just this afternoon--beautiful day in Jacksonville today! And thanks! :)
-
Yep. Hot!

Gotta be honest, that's a nice butt. :)

Well, I'm nowhere near your age, but I'm also a PA native and we have some educational goals in common as well...feel free to add me if you'd like!

A million bonus points for a perfectly placed and completely awesome movie reference! Nice work!

And there's my biggest obstacle. I struggle to make the time to put in 35-mile average weeks, between work, doctoral coursework, and family. If I could somehow find the time to increase to that kind of mileage, I would love to give it a try.

Well, three marathons so far. 4:19 first one, 3:48 second (a year later), and then 3:46 (two months later). I think qual time for a man my age is 3:10? I am definitely a middle-distance guy, 10k to 10 milers are my best events.
-
Wow...just....nice!
-
Awesome! I'll never be fast enough at the full marathon distance to qual for Boston, but two weeks ago I ran the Tour De Pain Extreme (3 races in 24 hours) and was just shy of my 10k PR with 43:08, and set a half-marathon PR of 1:38 and 5k PR of 21:09 (which I have broken since, down to 20:19 now).

You're in the wrong place....this is a thread discussing positive results of our physical fitness efforts. Maybe you should take your political complaints to an online community designed for those discussions... (not directed at you, jq.....you are correct, no explanation of your desire to carry is necessary!)

AWESOME! Great program. My wife started on it a couple months ago and has run several 5k races in the past two months. First one she did about 42 minutes with a lot of walking intervals, second one knocked it down to 39 minutes, and last weekend ran a 36:32 with only one brief walking break.

Couldn't tell ya. Wife claims it happens when we're out, but I guess I haven't been looking.

I'll second that! Great job!
