Welcome back. Seems we're in the same boat. :)

OMG!! Other than the having a baby part our stories are so similar. I had my sugery in March '05. I've gone through a LOT of stress in the past six years including a car wreck and fall on ice that jacked my back, not to mention the lovely bout with depression since getting injured and packing on the pounds. I'm probably…

Protein is good for your muscles. You have to have protein to rebuild. Don't stress going over the protein counts. I use that as my goal, anything over that is bonus points. :)

My fiance's nephew had the nerve to say something the other day and I shot daggers. I wish real ones could've come out of my eyes! But my girlfriend and I will sometimes joke about it, but we are the same size and have been friends for over 20 years. She can say that. Nobody else can.

What's interesting to me is that you can eat salad, but you can't eat vegetables. My first response would be to suck it up, put your big girl panties on and choke those veggies down. But then, I hesitate because there are some things I don't eat because I don't like the texture. I personally LOVE fruits and veggies and…

Sounds like you need to have a heart to heart with your regular doctor. If you are not ready for this, don't do it. This is a life long decision that you can't back out of. I had RNY done 3/30/05 and I am so glad I did. I have gained back 60lbs thanks to stress eating, but I have the tools available still to use, I just…

Couple of my favorites: Post Roast one roast - your choice (I like very well marbelized chuck roasts) chop up root veggies such as potatoes, turnips, carrots, and parsnips - big chunks are good here. add one packet of dried onion soup mix cover with water (just to the top of the meat) cook on low all day. Stew See above,…

Could you please provide your source information. Thanks.

I trade lettuce for broccoli slaw. It has a little bit of a crunch and spice, and it doesn't get all soggy.

I love water, but I can't drink it room temperature or hot, it has to be ICE cold. I will drink it tepid if I HAVE to, but I don't care for it. I also don't like ice water in styrofoam cups. Bleh. Get a pretty cup, fill it with ice, and enjoy a nice glass of ice water on a hot day. A shot of lemon, or some frozen berries…

I was back to work in a week and a half. I had a sedentary job though. After a full hysterectomy I was back to work part time in two weeks.... because I was bored. LOL

I had gastric bypass and dropped 145lbs in a year. I have some excess skin but it's not disgusting. I'm really the only one who ever notices it. Its also slowly catching up to my new size. If you're only dropping 80lbs, you'll be just fine. Relax. Its ok.

We made this AMAZING ham and bean soup the other day in the crock pot. We had some celery and carrots we needed to use up, and had a package of beans in the pantry so this is what we came up with: (We used neck bones, can use whatever meat you want - just really adds flavor) 1 package of 15 bean soup mix, wash the beans…

Pot Roast 1 Large Roast 1 Package of onion soup mix Potatoes (I do 4 small ones), carrots, and celery - about a cup or so each 1 onion Put roast and veggies in crock pot, pour soup mix over, put just enough water in it that it almost covers the meat. Cook on low all day...... divine.

I wish more restaurants would just place good food seperately from the actual garbage so that homeless people, or people less fortunate - or even stray animals - can safely consume it. I don't have the stomach to do it, but I have picked up stuff from dumpsters/by the side of the road that I have used, and placed stuff at…

Its not for everyone, but it is a life time decision. I too have to eat frequently or I'll forget to eat and be ravenous and make myself sick. Immediately following surgery you're simply not hungry. He will go through a period that his body will go into starvation mode. After awhile his body will balance out and he won't…

I'm actually glad you guys brought this up. Is it really as good as the reviews say? What about people who have injuries, I have a lumbar injury. Is this something I can work my way up to full fledged? Thanks!!

I had RNY 3/31/05. I weighed 290lbs. I got down to 145 in a year and I felt fantastic. I'm 5'4", so that was perfect for me. I had some people saying I was too skinny but I felt fantastic. I was able to maintain there for two years Thanks to a very stressful four years I woke up and am now 208. I'm struggling pretty hard…

I am almost 7 years post-RNY. Your body will tell you if you have to give up your favorite foods and drinking socially. I can still have my favorite foods, just not a huge serving. I'm now filled up when my dinner plate is a saucer versus a plate. I can still drink socially but I limit myself to one or two "sipping" drinks…

I am several years post op (almost 7 years). It can get discouraging, but you have to listen to your body. If your body is not getting enough calories to function it will start saving whatever it can. Follow your directions, talk to your doc, listen to your body. Pay more attention to the protein and water, at least that's…

I'm a single mom of teenagers, been that way since they were 1 and 2. When they were 3ish I'd take them to the park and play with them or walk around the playground while I could keep an eye on them (versus sitting on the bench), or go to the mall with them in the stroller and walk. We'd also put on music and dance in the…

Don't feel guilty. Just jump in where you are. If you messed up, you messed up. Nothing to get upset about. Take it as a lesson learned and go about your business. If you don't have time one day to excercise, park farther from the door or build extra steps in to your everyday to make up for it.

LOL If I sent that to my ex-husband, he'd rack up even more past due support (currently at over 17K) because he wouldn't understand the sarcasm. Get your local Child Support Enforcement involved. They'll get it for you. ;)

I would totally log the indepth cleaning that involves moving furniture, lifting mattresses, rearranging heavy boxes, etc. because that is WORK. When I seriously do spring/fall/summer/winter whatever deep cleaning I work out and I know because by the end of the day I'm spent. This is a quarterly deep cleaning, not a…

I used to weigh 290lbs. When i was that big I didn't want to go to a gym either. So I went dancing. I didn't mind going dancing because I really, truly didn't care what people thought of me, I was having fun. I got all dressed up, found the "ladies" nights (free before XX time) and went. I'd be on the dance floor for a…

High potein, low sugar. Not going out of my way to say "NO" to anything, just moderation. I am using the calorie counting tools not as a slap my hand when I'm bad, but like a bank. I typically know what I'm going to eat for the day, I plug it all in and I see what I have left. If something changes, I change it. If I'm…

There are tons of ideas floating around the internet. I would suggest a competition (that's always fun) - with buy in, healthy pot lucks where all the dishes have to be healthy, a recipe swap, bowling/dancing nights, things along those lines. Google "motivate employees" and you'll see a host of ideas.
