I've just done the fit test for the first time and although the DVD is 30 mins long, you're only working out for ten minutes of that, so I think somewhere around 150-300 (depending on your weight and existing fitness) sounds about right.

Yep - the macronutrients are there for a guide and you can change them if you are following a more protein heavy diet. One thing though - keep drinking lots of water if you are taking in a lot of protein, as your kidneys need it to flush through :)

USN Diet Fuel is very good and the Chocolate one tastes great!

Runners Need in Holborn is where I've always got my shoes. They do video gait analysis and are very knowledgeable. They are a chain so you can expect the same service in any branch, but Holborn is my fave :) There's also Run and Become (Victoria) and Sweatshop (Fulham) (but again, both are chains) who offer a similar…

A small spoon of crunchy peanut butter I find fills me up, and because it sticks around your mouth it takes ages to actually eat. Make sure you get one with no added sugar though!

The number we're told in HBY is "up to 1,000 calories" burned in 90 minutes - I guess it depends how far you're pushing yourself :)

Hello everyone! Thank you to whoever set up this group - fantastic idea :) My name is Charlotte and I'm London based, and I'm running Brighton Marathon in April - pleased to meet you all! This is actually my fourth marathon attempt (completed 2 but it was not pretty or expected time, and DNF on 1). I don't yet really feel…

Never pop a regular blister - let the skin get dry/hard as keeping it wet will just aggravate it. Sounds gross and your feet won't be pretty but hey, it's a marathon not a tea party :) Blood blisters - I've only had two and I popped both. Never had an issue with this. Seems a bit disgusting having dried up blood under your…

I absolutely feel the same way - TS Eliot once wrote "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go" - running is completely subjective as there is nothing in the sport except you and your body, and only YOU can control and influence that - so there's no point comparing yourself to others.…

Carbonated drinks are usually sugary, not good for your teeth, full of aspartame/phenylalanine (linked to stomach cancer), and the artificial sugars cause your body to crave more real sugars, so you're more likely to go and binge eat to fulfill your craving. Also, a SodaStream basic machine is ~$150 - when you add the…

Muscle weighs more than fat. I have lost ~4 inches from my jeans size, lost around 7% bodyfat, and I weigh exactly the same as I did when I was fat, perhaps even more. Trust the calipers, trust your dress size, and above all - trust what you see in the mirror! Food is fuel at the end of the day, your body is just becoming…
