I'm 5'3 and when I weighed about your weight and I talked to my doctor and told her that I was not losing any weight eating 1200 calories a day (and exercising 5-6 times a week). She informed me that I wouldn't lose eating that amount of calories and that I should eat 1000 a day, even when I exercised. I, too was doing…

I have to agree with the minority here. Do what's best for you and your body. My doctor told me to eat 1000 calories a day, even when exercising and no carbs after 4:00pm. I lost 25 pounds that way. I am short- barely 5'3 and have never lost weight eating 1200 calories. THat is maintenance mode for me. I eat a clean diet-…

Low fat and fat free are not considered clean. Things have to be added to them to make them that way and a lot of times it's some sort of sugar or chemical. Try to go full fat when possible, but as with all clean eating, always read the label. That's where you can be sure you are getting a clean item.

Try some Mandisa. Her whole CD is awesome, but I particularly love Good Morning, Waiting for Tomorrow, and Stronger. Here are some other songs on my workout playlist: The Afters- Light Up the Sky David Crowder- No One Like You....or anything by them really Jeremy Camp- Jesus Saves Mercy Me- Move Andy Cherry- Our God's…

When I run with my iPhone I use Nike +. The GPS works great and it calculates distance, speed, pace, etc. I also have the new nano with Nike+, however, that does not use GPS, so the distances are usually off a bit. When I want accurate info, I run with my phone.

I think it's different for everybody, but this time around for me, my belly was the first to go. I have been running, but I attribute it solely to my diet. I started eating clean and cut out all processed foods, white flour, sugars, refined carbs, etc. That seems to have done the trick!

I eat Chobani plain greek yogurt and then add a tsp of organic fruit spread that is naturally sweetened.

GMO= genetically modified food

I agree. I stay away from GMOs, too. Bad stuff! I found a bread that only has 5 ingredients in it...fresh ground organic whole wheat, yeast, water, oat bran, and salt. They sell it at Whole Foods here and it is made by a local baker. Delish! It can be very challenging to find clean bread...especially if you are at big…

Clean eating means having to read all ingredient labels. You will find that those granola bars may be processed and contain ingredients that we don't necessarily know what they are or where they come from. If you do eat packaged foods, make sure the ingredients are whole, real, and few. Try Larabars. They only have fruit,…

I completed the program in December and ran my first 5K today. I am still amazed that I ran the entire thing. I used to hate running, too, but have grown to love it. I especially love the "runner's high". Stick with it!!

I eat a local bread sold at Whole Foods. It only has about 5 ingredients (nothing processed) with 20 calories and 9 carbs per slice, but delicious and filling! Try your local health food store for something similar :)

Thanks for the millet suggestion. I will have to try that one. I am also wanting to try chia seeds...

I just bought one from Target: http://www.target.com/p/OXO-Softworks-Food-Scale/-/A-11144550. It's the OXO brand and I think it was around $25. It's great! It does grams and ounces and also zeros out when you weigh something in a dish. :)

Iced tea with lemon instead of sweetener or sugar?

I'm a teacher, too. Great ideas were listed above... I use all of those. I usually carry around a serving of some type of nuts or raw veggies with me as a snack. I divvy them up on the weekends into baggies so that I can grab and go each day. Lara bars are clean and yummy, but I have to watch the calories. They are around…

* Make better choices when dining at restaurants * Cook more clean recipes * More water, less alcohol- cut it out almost entirely * Complete the transition from greek yogurt with fruit to plain greek yogurt (flavoring myself to reduce sugar intake) * Incorporate new vegetables and grains into my routine. * Figure out some…

I just finished C25K a couple of weeks ago and running that 3 miles is still tough! However, I have learned a few things. I, too, felt the way you do when I first started. I learned that no one else is really paying attention to you as they are all concentrating on their own running (or so it appears). Take encouragement…

I take levothyroxin. I usually eat breakfast right before I leave the house, or in the car, so taking it right after I get up allows for time to absorb while I get ready for the day. I have heard from different doctors (and read) mixed things about the calcium. I have heard that the no calcium after taking the pill…

I use Nike +. It also uses GPS. I love it. It has logged all of my run and you can check your data on the app or online at the Nike website.

$14.99 a month at LA Fitness. That includes use of all the facilities (pool included) and all of the classes. My gym has just been remodeled and all of the cardio machines have their own TVs built in. :)

I tanned for a few months before my wedding. Not so smart because a few years ago I was diagnosed with melanoma. Thankfully, the Dr.. was able to remove all of it. However, now I have a 50% chance of it returning in my lifetime. Please don't be fooled by the claims that tanning beds are not bad for you. They are! Do the…

I ran 3.1 and walked another 2.4. Merry Christmas!

When I started eating clean, my stomach was upset every day from all the veggies I was eating. After about a month, things balanced out and my system is used to eating clean.

I love Fage cherry and Chobani black cherry. I think Fage is better than Chobani. Both are on the expensive side so I wait for them to go 10/$10 and stock up. Both brands have so much sugar in them! I am working on weening myself off and starting to eat just the plain greek yogurt.
