  • She already said in her original post that she loves water and drinks 3-4litres of water a day. I don't think she really needs to go even higher than that? Although you could look at what you're drinking. Plain water isn't always the best option for rehydration. Maybe some kind of sports drink? Agreed with everyone who's…
  • I'm following the new rules of lifting for women. There are a couple moves that require gym equipment but it's easy enough to find a substitute move. I can't afford to go to the gym at the moment so I do my workouts at home :) All I bought was a weight set that came with dumbbells and a barbell. Cost me about £30, which is…
  • I'm in the same boat as you! 5'1 and 126lbs at the moment. Unfortunately, weight loss just has to be slow for us shorties, if we want to do it healthily! However remember that even if the weight is slow to come off, if you're burning fat and building muscle you'll still look smaller even without weighing less :) Plus, half…

  • I'm pretty sure that setting it to 1lb a week still sets the calories at 1200. 1200 isn't that much of a deficit at our height (also 5') if we aren't doing much exercise. I'd say go with the 1200 for now, until you add some exercise. You don't want to be stuck living off 1200 forever! I'd really recommend getting in to…
  • I always thought it was around the 600cals mark as well. Not sure where I learned that though.
  • Another suggestion is possibly that you aren't eating enough for the amount of exercise you're doing. When you under eat the body breaks down muscle for energy as well as breaking down fat. If you want to build muscle you could try incorporating some strength training into your routine :)
  • I love porridge with fruit, yum! Or if I want something nice and cool and light (especially in warmer weather) I love to make a frozen fruit smoothie and then blend my porridge oats into that. Super delicious! And of course coffee every morning too lol :)
  • Kind of rude? It's not that hard to do a quick google of ingredients that you're unsure of. I am totally addicted to mango & peach smoothies right now. I love mango! So I'll be trying this at some point for sure :)
  • Anything chocolate! There is no such thing as moderation for me when it comes to chocolate haha.
  • Both! I'm 20 and I want to go out and have fun and wear hot outfits and not feel self conscious. So that's the vanity aspect. However I also love the feeling of getting stronger and faster and having more energy and being more optimistic about life. When I focus only on vanity it's too easy to get caught up in the calorie…
  • I'd go with your doctor. He's the one with all the training, not all the people on here who pretend to be experts! (that's not a dig at you, that's a dig at everyone who seems to think they know best with no professional training whatsoever...) As for eating back exercise calories. People on an average diet need to eat…
  • Thanks guys :) I'll just assume they're the same for now. Would love to get a HRM but as a poor student I can't afford one yet! Saving up for one though :)
  • I agree!! I don't use 4.5mph as my running pace, however when I set that as my pace on the treadmill it's impossible for me to move my legs quick enough to walk it. I have to jog it. (5'1")
  • Can't remember where I read it, but nutrition information on food packaging can be off by as much as 20%. So a 100cal snack may only be 80 cals or could be 120 cals. Or a 1000cal meal can become a 1200cal meal. Everything is just an estimate. You do your best to get as accurate as possible, but it's always just an…
  • Bump for future. Some yummy looking ideas there :)
  • I researched this before and found that we only burn an extra 50 or so cals a day. That's only what I found out though, I don't know how accurate it is/isn't. You could try taking a vitamin supplement and see if that helps? Maybe your body is needing a certain nutrient and you just aren't eating the right foods to find it?…
  • This! It makes me so mad when organisations advertise things as "coming to the UK" or when bands announce that they'll be including the UK in their tour, when what they actually mean is that they're coming to/touring in England. Not Scotland, Not Wales, not Ireland, just England. /end rant Hopefully if it's a success…
  • Faster recovery? Awesome!
  • I didn't follow the diet in the book, no. I did try and stick to similar amounts of carbs/fat/protein. I still saw progress :) their diet is just a guide, not a requirement.
  • I used to only eat 3 times a day but the past few months I started eating 6 times a day :) So 3 medium-sized meals and 3 snacks.
  • Avocado! It is really had to only eat one a day sometimes. I could eat it all day, every day lol. Water melon. Yum! Banana with peanut butter :)
  • I love snacking on avocado with a little lemon pepper sprinkled on top. Banana & peanut butter. Crackerbread or rice cakes with tuna mayo. Yoghurt. Small bowl of muesli or granola. Cheese strings. A protein shake, I get flavoured ones and it's like having a milkshake that's really filling. I even have proper meals, like…

  • I eat breakfast! Porridge and peanut butter is my favourite, delicious! That said though if I wake up and I'm not hungry, then I won't eat til later, and it just means that I get to eat a bigger dinner or bigger evening snack :)
  • Welcome! Does your name have anything to do with Matthew Gray Gubler by any chance? I absolutely adore him aha! I'm from the Falkirk area so not too far away :)
  • Well done on persisting! That's great you've found something to help ease you into C25K. It's harder to stay motivated with a program that's too challenging. I have two suggestions, though, since you say walking is so easy (if you can walk that easily, then week 1 should not be impossibly hard):- Firstly, are you running…
  • What an amazing change you've made! You look so strong and fit and healthy! Well done! I hope that some day I can be as proud of myself as you must be :) very inspiring!
  • Thanks! I'll check out those links. I'd rather something cheaper if possible so they may be better options than kinetica :)
  • Really? When I was looking at it on Amazon it was under £30, including delivery, for a 1KG tub of choc-flavoured protein powder. Seemed quite a fair price to me. Unless it was a dodgy seller selling it cheaper, he did only have a few ratings lol.
  • I'm similar stats to you. 20 yrs, 5'0" and 120. I downloaded new rules of lifting for women. It's been great at getting me into weight training since I had never done it before :)
