  • I eat an avocado every day, when I can afford them. They're getting very expensive here! Usually have it plain, or with lemon. Also in salads, or in sandwhiches instead of mayo/butter. I sometimes put them in smoothies to make them more filling.

  • I don't eat anything to help with cravings. If it's not in my meal plan for the day, I just don't eat it. If it's a really bad craving, I go for a brisk walk or occupy myself, while drinking water or tea. I just don't dwell on the craving, I don't give it any attention. Weekends are my cheat days so if I'm still desperate,…
  • Good link, and that's pretty much how my doctor explained it to me. Thanks for posting this!
  • I log all liquids as water. If they're anything other than tap water, I also log it with my meals (even if they're 0 calories). My doctor put it simply to me: The 'water' part of logging, really just means 'liquid'. So coffee, tea, sodas, even soup count, as they are liquids. Even if they come with extra stuff in them, the…
  • Whatever the dictionary definition of DIET, the fact is that in colloquial terms, it does imply something temporary. Something you go on... And then go OFF (and pile all the weight back on). The words we use matter, if only in small ways.
  • Love it! Great ideas for new recipes. Thanks for sharing :-)
  • Yes Fitbit and MFP go both ways. Any calories over your MFP estimate are added as "Fitbit minutes" in the exercise section. Your caloric intake logged on MFP is sent to Fitbit and logged as a MFP meal (without the details). I've found it very useful because it means I don't have to manually log my workouts - their calorie…
  • Love my Fitbit (Ultra). Very small, I clip it to the centre of my bra and don't even know its there! I think it's accurate when I compare it to other devices, but it counts steps/floors while you're driving, which means you have to log the drives (start time and length) so that it can override those steps - a bit of a…
  • That doesn't seem too high at all, considering how much you're working out! Give it a go and see what changes?
  • I would suggest you track your intake for a week at least to figure out how much you're currently eating. My first thought was that, with your activity level, you might be in starvation mode. As others have said, it's very hard to give advice without any hard data to analyse.
  • I sort of understand your frustration. I too was the whining type. In my case, I had more concrete excuses (a myriad of health problems from hormonal to neurological, causing me to not lose weight at a normal rate, and being in too much pain to move most of the time). I would ask people for advice, I would try specific…
