I keep protein peanut butter balls in the freezer for times like that. It's my "candy". It's 122 calories a ball (if you make 14 balls from the recipe). Here's a link to the recipe I use, although there are several different versions of it. http://busymomofnine.blogspot.com/search/label/recipes

I just bought the FT4 and love it so far. Simple to use and definitely motivates you to work harder and burn more.

It's only partly about calories counting. The percentages are so important and sticking to them makes a difference (in me anyway) in whether or not you lose weight. I'd try a traditional 40/30/30 (protein, carb, fat) ratio and really stick to it, That means not going over your percentage in any category. Give it a try for…

Thanks for the input! Sounds like I'll keep doing what I'm doing (not eating) until (or if) I start running longer distances. Thanks again!

43 (for another couple months) with nine kids: 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 11, 9, 5 and 3. Just over halfway to goal and still have so far to go! Feel free to add! Love the support on MFP!

When I first started, I just tracked calories until using MFP was more of a habit. But when I stalled a bit, I focused on the percentages without changing the calories at all, and started losing again. The percentages are important. And changing them periodically, can help with the plateaus.

I have 9 kids, so I don't have a problem saying that's a cop out. One I used for years, btw. Eating healthy is a choice. And it can be done...even with a bunch of kids in the house and birthday parties, and graduations, and summer parties, and holidays and a host of any other celebrations. The kids are obviously able to…

Almonds do the trick pretty quick. Gotta make sure you have enough fat left over for them though.
-
Thank you! The distinction between the two concepts is very helpful. And, no, I didn't factor them in when I set MFP up.
-
This makes sense. I set my BMR based on someone's recommendation earlier on this thread (thanks, btw). And so, for the first time ever, I plan to eat back my exercise calories. Gotta admit, it scares me a bit. But the weight loss has slowed down and I still have far to go. Hoping this works.

Checking it out now. There are so many conflicting opinions it gets confusing! Thanks for the input!

...and I take it you have a different theory?????

Hiring a PT is a great way to start. You only need three or four sessions to get some great ideas on what to do. If you have a smartphone, there are also tons of apps out there that include video clips of the various exercises and put workouts together for you.

Quest Protein Bars range from 8-10 cal/g depending on which one you get.

In addition to the above, you could try something like glucosamine for joint support. There are other products out there as well, but my husband, a runner, says his ankle issues disappeared once he started taking glucosamine.

Remember, no 1200 calories are the same. Are you watching the protein/carb/fat percentages as well? Personally, I think MFP sets the carbs too high and the protein too low. Try playing around with the percentages and see if that gets things going. Try the "traditional" 40/30/30 (protein, carb, fat) ratio and don't exceed in…

Weekly. The daily flucuations would drive me crazy!

I'm 5'4". Starting weight was 215. (November 2011) Current weight is 167. Goal is 130.

Wow! Radical transformation! Good job! Very inspiring!!!

I don't think it would terribly difficult to find socially awkward kids in a public school. In fact there are a couple on my street and several more in my church. Why is there never a statement that we should end public school because there are socially awkward people there?

Given that neither theory can be proven, and both are a matter of faith, how is it that one faith theory can be taught without the "religious" attack, while the other cannot? Why is faith in random chance okay to teach, but faith in an intelligent designer not? Why is theory A, which cannot be repeated or proven,…

"Homeschool programs containing curriculum decided by the state, monitored by teachers, and given by parents are the ONLY ones I approve of. The rest are dangerous and do not prepare a child for the real world." Wow. Finally. Someone who was honest enough to say it. The STATE owns the children. The STATE has to decide what…

"You're counting calories? Oh, that will never work!" Um....did I mention I've lost 47 pounds so far?

I breathe in and out through my mouth. I read a bunch of conflicting stuff on that too and tried to do it through my nose, but just couldn't do it. Someone told me I'm running "wrong" because I breathe through my mouth. Seriously?! I'm running, not getting injured and losing weight. I'll take "wrong" any day!

Like the woman a couple posts above me, I have nine children as well and am currently homeschooling five of them. Three have already graduated and one is only three years old. Of the three who have graduated (all were exclusively homeschooled), one is married with children, one is a personal trainer and owns her own…

Another thing you could try is to play around with the percentages. Personally, I think MFP sets the carb percentage too high. You could try a 40/30/30 (protein, carb, fat) ratio and see if that gets things moving again. I find that when I stall, if I change the percentages, but not the calories, the scale starts moving…

Are you watching your percentages as well as your calorie intake? I think MFP sets the carbs too high. If you aren't losing, maybe you could play around with the percentages a bit and see if that helps.

Have you tried Quest Protein Bars yet? The non-fiber carbs are very low (from 4-6g) and the bars are incredible. Try the Cinnamon Roll. You can even heat it a bit in the microwave or oven first. It's like dessert! www.questproteinbar.com
