  • well, the alcohol is the same calories, ounce for ounce, no matter what you drink. It's really what else is in the drink. You can guess 70-100 cals for any diet soda plus one ounce of hard stuff (Vodka, Whiskey, Tequila, etc) or for a dry white wine. It's the beer, sweet mixers and non-dry wines that can kill you with…
  • Absolute hog wash. Ketoacidosis does NOT occur from simply eating low amounts of carbohydrate. Ketosis does. And ketones are not toxic substances. They in fact are used as fuel in the brain and other tissues. Keto acidosis occurs in type 1 diabetics and in some other unusual metabolic conditions. It is not the ketones that…
  • Be happy! you know what your difficulty has been and you know what you need to do. That's a great thing! Tomorrow is a new opportunity to do the right thing. Good luck!
  • Just search! there are literally dozens of threads on this issue. The FDA position is that HCG DOES NOT WORK. It is merly a very low calorie diet with all the risks that accompany that. However, you will find plenty of people who swear by it here and on other boards.

  • He will be getting some instruction in controlling his diet. He will be limiting his carbohydrate intake (probably not enough) and even more importantly, trying to keep it fairly consistent. You might want to look at some lower carb recipes and also see what materials the diabetes educator or dietician has given him.
  • Well, that's where I want to be! Does that count?
  • Fantastic! Keep it up.
  • My Cauliflower mash is quite simple. Steam one head of Cauliflower until tender. Place in food processor with 1 teaspoon of salt +/- 1 tablespoon of butter (your preference) Process until smooth. (add small amount of cream if too thick Spoon 1/2 of the cauliflower into casserole dish and sprinkle top with sharp cheddar…
  • I am really concerned about your estimates of calorie burn. I thinkthey are WAY high. That may be your problem
  • Well, if you feel it benefits you than fine. Unless you have significant health problems an occasional "cleanse" is unlikely to hurt you. But stool content is almost entirely bacteria, fiber and water. There is no place in the intestinal tract where we hold onto "toxins" that we need help expelling. Through the process of…
  • I am currently on about 50 grams, which is pretty low.; but works for me. If I go much higher I don't lose weight, I feel hungry, and I crave sugar and starches.
  • I am down 20 now and I am getting comments from people at work. (i know I am down because of changes in which belt hole I am using. I think it depends on where you are loosing from (totally out of your control) when others will notice. I have been told that it is my face getting thinner that stands out.
  • Totally worthless. There is no need to "cleanse"
  • Don't choke him senseless; but, maybe ask him to be a bit more supportive in your journey???? Fortunately, I don't have this problem as I am the cook!
  • NO! No one on this site has that problem... NOT! Don't beat yourself up. We all have little set backs and indulgences. I would just ask, why was there a cookie there to tempt you?????? My moto is, "If I don't have it, I can't eat it."
  • Up your protein and cut down the carbs. Many find this approach reduces cravings and keeps the hunger pangs at bay.
  • I'm not certain about that particular monitor, but did you enter your correct weight and sex? when you count your pulse rate, does it equal what the monitor shows? I have a Polar and biking with a heart rate average of 161 for 12.5 miles in an hour, sweating like a pig ,burns about 900 Kcals for me. So I have my doubts…
  • 1 week and no scale change.... Don't worry about it! You didn't put that weight on in a day. Give it some time and stick with the plan --Out
  • Both! Absolutely. My estimates of sizes are +/- 50% (mostly on the plus side) and the stored calorie burn rates are no where near what my HRM indicates.
  • Big change in the appearance of your face. Keep up the good work!
  • Because this calculator assumes you will only be doing minimal activity and provides a built in deficit. That's why the system asks you to enter your exercise and then gives you more calories for the added exercise.
  • 24 pounds in three weeks. That reading may have been in error. Even at 13 pounds in 3 weeks you are doing great. Don't be a slave to the scale
  • I think you have a lot of misconception here. Just one mango is over 135 calories and over 30 grams of sugar. It is not even close to zero calories and most of the fruits you list here are also reasonably high. They all count....
  • The HRM estimates calories burned based on heart rate percent of your max heart rate. They are pretty accurate for sustained aerobic exercise periods but most are really not very accurate enough in estimating day to day activity to be useful. Better off to estimate your basal metabolic rate and the additional factor for…
  • I am not even sure what you are talking about, but there are no quick fixes (short or liposuction, maybe).
  • If it causes you significant discomfort, do a low impact workout like biking or an elliptical trainer. As you weight decrease and you strengthen, you can try your hand (or knees) at running again!
  • All-in-all a fairly accurate and entertaining movie. I recommend it to anyone.
  • Of course I do! Even if it's negligible in the calories, it will add fiber and helps keep me honest.
  • Don't be discouraged. Re-examine how many calories you are attributing to your exercise. You may be way off on that estimate and thus going over on calories. Second, the first hundred yards doesn't determine a marathon. It could just be water weight gain, etc. stick to it, watch your calories and I'm confident you'll see…
  • OMG! You couldn't be any more wrong! Fructose is 1 of the mono-saccharides in sucrose (The other being glucose) Fruits have varying amounts of sucrose in them naturally. Fructose is far from a "good sugar". It can't be used by most of the bodies cells and ends up being metabolized primarily in the liver. I am not going to…
