The difficulty in eating back your exercise calories is that our measurements of what we expend really are not very good. MOst execrize equipment seems to over estimate. Kinda of like vanity sizing in clothing, I guess......
-
And I concur with the other respondents that shooting for an excessive deficit isn't a great plan.

Stop looking for magic potions to lose weight. Move more - eat less

On average, pretty accurate. It serves as a little reality check as well as a motivational tool, I think.
-
I will just say that to measure is to know. Why would you not track your weight and consumption? Why not continue to use the tools that got you where you want to be?

You can also be fairly lean if you want by skipping the guacamole, have chicken, and go easy on the cheese.

AWESOME!

I am don't know why I continue to respond to these unfounded statements of pseudo fact; but, this is an important topic that is shrouded in wives tales rather that data. First off, ketosis is a normal state in pregnant women and the developing fetus gets approximately 30% of its energy need from...KETONES Institute of…

Except this study had nothing to do with humans. This was a study of mice who develop a condition known as ketoacidosis. And I stand by my statement of no essential need for carbohydrate. As noted by SC, the operative word is essential as in essential nutrients. An attempt to isolate 2 words and then imply that I stated…

So, I see that at least some of you don't understand the meaning of the word "essential" when applied to a nutrient. An essential nutrient is a nutrient required for normal human body function that either cannot be synthesized by the body at all, or cannot be synthesized in amounts adequate for good health (e.g., niacin,…

I will cease contributing to your education. It isn't worth my time. I hope others aren't dissuaded from a particular dieting approach because of ill informed posters.

It would be nice if people actually knew something about what they post on. McClellan WS, Du Bois EF (1930). "Clinical calorimetry. XLV. Prolonged meat diets with a study on kidney function and ketosis" (PDF). J. Biol. Chem. 87 (3): 651–668. This paper is a study from 1930 in which two men consumed nothing but meat and…

There is no real reason to limit protein. If the fat calories are more than you would like, feel free to eat more protein.

Hilarious! This isn't science. This is supposition to "confirm" a preconceived conclusion. Point #1 is laughable (1) The human brain uses up to 25% of the body's energy budget and up to 60% of blood glucose. While synthesis of glucose from other sources is possible, it is not the most efficient way, and these high glucose…

Also hypothyroid and have been for years. Correcting hypothyroidism with medications is not difficult and your family doctor should be quite capable of prescribing. They will measure the thyroid hormone and the thyroid stimulating hormone and follow your symptoms. Keep track of your own lab test. Trust me. You can lose…

Why are you worried if your protein intake is higher? Unless you have kidney or liver failure don't worry about it.

lettuce wraps. I am not a big bread eater and do better with fewer carbs, so wrapping sandwich makings in lettuce is fine by me. I even makes lettuce wrap fajitas!

Really, The Inuits consumed a diet of almost no carbohydrate probably since prehistoric time. And the ascertion that dietary fats are the driver of heart disease is clearly debatable (And a low carbohydrate is far from a "Western Style" diet)

Great job!

Fabulous!

Congrats on reaching your goal!!

in a relationship, mid twenties, maybe a cashier?
-
Nope, No really not into guy on guy. (no offense)
-
Congrats! Keep up the good work!
-
Congrats! You look amazing.
-
Geeez, I am amazed at the vitriol in this thread directed at someone thinking you look good. Enjoy the complement!

Proposing isocaloric comparisons as validation of a diet is just silly. That's not the real world state. Everyone will lose weight if we strictly control calories to the proper level. The touted benefit to low carbohydrate diets is really about satiety and the ability of many dieters to maintain a caloric deficit while on…
