  • It's been about one year and I am starting to feel better. My back pain is so much better. The cure for me was time x PT x chiropractor. Still have bad days, but I can do a lot more than I used to. There is HOPE!
  • Since you have lost weight, has your pain been better tpt?
  • Hi Pamelazee. I might be the wrong person to talk to right now. I'm having a bad couple days doing exactly what you said--I worked out harder to try to lose some weight and now my back is killing me. I hang on by a thread with MFP, but I recorded my breakfast this morning. I'm so tired of carrying all these extra lbs…
  • Me too! I had major dental surgery. I've had a plate in my mouth for 6 or 7 months. It is really upsetting my food-taste balance. I can't eat properly, and I sure as heck can't eat a salad. My mouth's been sore for over a week, and guess what feels the best...milkshakes! But I feel a change coming, and I'm able to eat a…
  • Everyone is doing so well...and I am failing. God give me strength to not give up.
  • You have made me feel like I am not alone. I have only been living with pain for almost a year. My pain goes from a 2 on a good day to that 15 you're talking about on others - the days when you lay in bed and cry. I do take narcotic pain medication for my back, but if it continues, I will have to learn to live with it…
  • Thanks, great idea. I'll check out the blog.
  • Cried at the PT today, but I can't say enough good things about Rachel. She didn't let me focus on the negative, she kept the conversation positive. She helped me through my exercises, massaged the muscles around the painful area, and sent me home feeling a bit better. Then I took pain meds and laid down for an hour and…
  • Sorry about your setback! Since I've been walking again, my back is hurting again, but I'm going to PT and she massages the muscles and makes it feel better. Every other PT has given me core strengthening, which made my back hurt more, but this one is great. I do my exercise at home, and go to therapy to feel better. The…
  • LOL, maradiaz, a wildebeest. Be careful! I was able to walk for 45 minutes at a pretty fast pace today, in the sub-freezing temps! Maybe sprinting like a wildebeest is in my future, too.
  • In reply to Aussie: Rinse and repeat...lol. I, too, have broken down in tears many times, in many public places. Anymore, I just let it go and then tell a friend how I cried at "fill in the blank with an embarrassing place to cry" and we laugh about it. I am just never giving up. If I fail every day for months, eventually…
  • Ha! Exactly! I made my family sign a contract...and they did! Even my husband.
  • I completed my food diary yesterday, even though I knew I went over. Ilove the way MFP says, "if you continue to eat this way you will weight (this much) in 5 weeks."
  • I didn't logon all last week. Which means I didn't track. And I didn't exercise. Pain and depression had me down. But I'm back and I haven't given up. And if you're a Survivor fan, you know that Ozzy says it's not how you fall, it's how you get back up! I'm looking through my posts and my goals to remind myself why I need…
  • Yes, that is all sounding quite familiar. I think my family finally gets it when I cry in front of them. I think I'll put them to work today.
  • Hi, I'm Pam and I'm a...hurt...lol back atcha Peter. I broke my butt many years ago--fell on the steps and landed right on my tailbone. It was manageable for a long time. A long bike ride put me in agony about 2 years ago, but still managed it. A ski trip last march sprained my lumbar and between the two I get no relief. I…
  • I think I might finally be feeling some relief from my PT. My therapist is having his female colleague work with me tomorrow so she can work on some of my issues that lie below the belt. I think she will be super helpful! Keep you all posted.
  • 100 lbs. Me too. That's what I'm going for. Please keep posting success!
  • Thanks for all your replies. Now I don't feel so all alone. Walking a half marathon...I love that idea! And I am going to try to find a yoga tape that is designed for people with pain. Maybe tonight, I'll bring a laptop to bed with me (because i usually have to be laying down after dinner) and chat instead of eat.
