If you have a smartphone, look for a Couch to 5k app. I've hated running all my life, but now i'm growing to love it. Its a 9 week program that starts you off slow with walk/run intervals, and as the weeks progress you run longer and walk less. It's really great, I just completed week 5 tonight.

I know it can be hard, but just focus on what you are eating. I live in a house with 5 family members, and they don't diet. I just buy my own food and stick to my diet as much as possible. If he sees you doing that, maybe he will be more inclined to eat healthy with you, and maybe not. It's all about will power.

Outside. I love being able to look back and think "Damn! Look how far I ran!!!!!" I don't like treadmills. I'm doing C25K and loving it. Just finished Week 5 run 3 tonight actually. I did it in the cold, misty weather. Made me feel like a warrior.

I'm 5'7 and currently 159. My goal is 143. I was around that weight when I played volleyball in high school, and I'd like to be that size again. I think 145-155 would be a good goal range, and you can always adjust as you get smaller.

The one I use is called Get Running (apple store). I LOVE it! Starting week 4 tomorrow. Its 9 weeks long, 3 runs a week. I can notice so much improvement in just 3 weeks. Your goal is already calculated at a calorie deficit (depending on where you set your goals such as lose 1/5 lb, 1 lb, 2lb, etc.) So yes, stay with your goal and you will still be on track. :smile:

when you set up your account online....i know you can change your goals to gain/maintain/lose.....and the iphone app is awesome, but i don't think you can edit goals on there (if you can, i haven't figured it out)

After calculating mine....the number i got was my maintenance calories. So if you want to lose weight, take that number and subtract 500-1000 for a calorie deficit. Interesting formula I haven't seen before, I usually go by harris-benedict which comes out pretty close to find MAINTENANCE.
