  • Diuretics are generally only used in people with kidney issues. Try cutting back your sodium intake to 2,000mg per day.

  • As long as you're getting enough calories and they are nutrient rich calories, not junk, you're doing okay. For the first trimester you usually need between 2,000-2,200 calories a day depending on your pre-pregnancy weight. Make sure you're getting lots of fruits, veggies, calcium, iron and taking a prenatal vitamin!
  • Did you eat a salty meal the day before? That can have a huge impact on the numbers.
  • Canned and processed foods both contain HUGE amounts of sodium. Cut those out of your diet if you can or buy their lower sodium versions of them.
