There's a message board that's been going for quite awhile, MFP Cycling Club - part 4. All kinds of cyclist are welcome, and all ability levels. Check it out!

I did C25K prior to signing up for a 10K training class, and think it's a great program. First of all, it starts you off slow enough and with short distances that will prevent you from injuring yourself. If you're a former runner, you're probably ready to just head out and run, but the other exercise you're doing now…

I bike, run and swim, and find that my cycling helps my running, which helps my swimming. I've never heard of this being a bad combination. If you want to run and bike, go ahead, and listen to what your body tells you. FYI - I'd been cycling for many years before I started running again, and the running really improved my…

You are totally right when you say this journey is made of many tiny steps, not giant leaps. I have to remind myself of that everyday. Like you, I have changed my attitude about food. I used to love fried food, especially onion rings. Sometimes they seem tempting, but I remind myself that they never taste as good as I…

Hey! I'm a friend of Skywalker from the cycling thread, and she said you were back. Feel free to friend me if you want regular comments on your exercise posts! Good luck with your journey to fitness and good health! :flowerforyou: Lisa

Yes, you really can do this. The C25K is a great program. I am now running a little over 3 miles, about 3 times a week. One of my best friends who has had numerous knee surgeries can run now, thanks to her determination and the C25K. Take your time, and repeat some weeks if you need to. Can't wait to read your post in May…

Yes, I understood your take on it, and I agree (didn't mean to sound otherwise or as if I had misunderstood you). For me, the bigger message is to pay attention to your body when you're exercising, whether running, biking, lifting, etc. The one-size-fits-all doesn't work for clothes or anything else, in my opinion. Right…

When I was 20 years younger, I used to run about 5 miles a day. By the time I was in my 30s, I had gotten away from running. Each time I tried to start a running program, I was plagued by severe shin and ankle pain which no one seemed to know how to fix. I'd try again every few years, and always got the same result.…

Quit beating yourself up. If you don't want to go to the gym, find something else (DVDs, walking, etc). Decide to log all cals for a week, even if you go over. (I struggle with this one, too, but usually after I've logged them, it wasn't as bad as I expected.) This is a way of life, not a temporary thing. Don't give…

Hi Parki! You've come to the right place. MFP is a fun, supportive way to find a fitter, thinner you. Good luck in your journey. Feel free to friend me if you need support. I'm on here almost every single day. :flowerforyou:

Stu, I am so happy to hear it. Even though you're half a world away, you've been close in my thoughts. :flowerforyou:

Welcome to MFP! This is a great site and there are lots of encouraging people here to cheer you on! Be sure to check out the message boards if you have a particular fitness interest. It's fairly easy to find like-minded fitness friends. Good luck on your journey to better health! Lisa

Welcome to MFP! I've been on the site since June, and love it. I actually miss it when I don't get my food or exercise logged. I know you can be successful with this, because it works for me and so many others. Best of luck in your journey to a healthier place. Feel free to friend me if you need support along the way.

This seems way unbalanced to me. You need more fruits and veggies. In the morning, you might want to consider an egg white omlette with a little cheese and chopped spinach (or other veggies you like), maybe some fruit (a banana or half of a large apple; eat the other half as a snack later in the day). For lunch, a big…

Congrats on your weight loss. I know exactly what you're talking about, because I've had the same experience in the past. My weight gets to a certain point, then bounces around a bit. Since I've been on MFP, it hasn't happened. Sometimes I get stuck at the number, but I just stick to my program and it eventually comes off.…

Good for you! My BMI is in the healthy range again, as of last week! Yay!!!

First of all, that's an amazing weight loss, whether your scale is off a few pounds or not! :drinker: What does your doctor's scale say? Or if you belong to a gym, see if they have a scale that calibrated properly. In any case, I wouldn't worry about it too much. There will be some variations. My scale usually is up or…

You are correct about the physics of it all. I'll add to it that weight (matter) is neither created nor destroyed. It is constant. So when someone else loses weight, it will end up on someone else's hips. ;)

My motivators: I imagine how good I will feel when I get back from a long bike ride (even if I'm not really feeling like going that day); I remind myself how much more confident I feel when my clothes fit properly and I look put together; I remember how supportive my (very fit and thin) husband is every time I experiment…

Yes. While I have less to lose than many people here, and lost it once about 7 years ago, I was very skeptical of my ability to do so again. When I started MFP in June of this year, I really didn't have high expectations. I thought I'd try it, but didn't think I'd get results. I was wrong. I am not at my goal weight yet,…

This looks great! I'm trying it. Thanks for posting!

Welcome! I've been on MFP since June, and am trying to lose 25 pounds. This is a great tool and it works. I lose an average of a pound a week. Hope you stick with it. Good luck and get to the gym!

Ok, my Thursday peeps, I am leaving you. The Thursday weigh in isn't working out well for me. When I have a good weigh in, I tend to throw caution to the wind for the entire weekend! I'm going to try a Sunday weigh in, in the hopes that it keeps me honest on Friday and Saturday nights. I have no idea if this will work, but…

Good news - The 4 (sodium OD) pounds that found me last week are gone. AND I lost 1.5 pounds this week, too. So my total weight loss is now 13.5 pounds. Good luck to all you losers out there! @rachel, not sure how to solve your problem. Try checking one of the help message boards, and you may find what you're…

I love butternut squash. Peel it, halve it, remove the seeds, and cut into chunks. Spray it with cooking spray and add your choice of seasoning. This can be as simple as salt and pepper. My fave is herbes de Provence. Roast it at 375 until tender, about 35 minutes, depending on the size of the chunks. You should be able to…

Three of the four pounds are already gone, so I'm sure it's sodium.:drinker: My husband said his weight was up even more than mine, and his is getting back to normal, too. Wish restaurants didn't put so much salt in their food.

According to my trusty scale, I gained 4 pounds in a week. This seems almost impossible to me. We've been out of town for most of that time, and I suspect the eating out (despite mostly good choices and plenty of exercise) has resulted in massive sodium. So I'm not freaking out for now. I'll drink plenty of water and see…

WTG katzpawz & hova! Hova, you crack me up! Gotta love George Jefferson!

Good morning, my Thursday peeps. This week I lost 0.5 pounds. This is good, considering the amount of wine I drank over the weekend! :drinker:

Sorry you are under the weather. Try some hot tea with a little lemon and honey. That usually works for me, whether it's a cold or a tummy bug. You could also try some warm broth, or some jello if you want something sweet. Feel better soon.
