Thanks for the advice everyone! While Insanity is great cardio, it's not the same as distance running. Your muscles and joints don't get the same stresses, which is what took me so long to build up to 5 miles at a time. That's my biggest concern. Eating only 1200 calories and then working off more will probably be counterproductive. MFP has me at 1270 to lose a pound a week and I exercise 6 days a week. I almost always eat back 80%-100% of my workout calories, because dipping below 1200 calories regularly is not good for the body. I'm losing weight at 1 lb per week…

In my opinion there's a difference between someone who's been wearing makeup for the day and came in to work out, and the girl that gets up at 6am to put a full face of makeup on before coming to the gym. The latter are the people who make me roll my eyes.

This and the people who do the stairmaster while supporting their body weight with their arms locked and a death grip on the handle bars. You're supposed to haul your body weight up the stairs, not tap dance along. Makes me wonder why they even bother.

The one day I did the treadmill and Insanity I was totally wiped the next day. I finally got my body used to running 5 miles at a stretch (which for me is HUGE...never been able to do that before) and I don't want to lose my progress. However I feel like a quitter if I don't do all of Insanity according to the schedule.
