We eat organic when we can, but also strive to eat local first. Although we still eat meat we have cut down down our consumption. That being said, due to my son's dairy and egg allergies a lot of our meals end up being vegan. Composting here is easy as we have curb side pickup. Other then that just folllow the 3 R's. We…

I use the insulated Klean Kanteen. I like them because they are stainless steel (no BPA or bad tastes) and easy to clean. I only use frozen fruit, and it will keep a smoothie cold for at least 2-3 hours sitting on my desk. I usually make mine at home, drink a little on the way to work and finish it off at work.

I eat a balanced whole food diet. The only vitamin I add is Vitamin D during the winter months. The reason being there is not enough sunlight during the winter months in Canada. When it is sunny in January, the sun is too low to the horizon and has more atmosphere to go through. It's also hard to soak up the rays in a…

These two tables offer a great comparison of dietary fats. Chia seeds may be the way to go. https://secure.manitobaharvest.com/images/uploads/pages/File/comparison-of-fats.pdf https://secure.manitobaharvest.com/images/uploads/pages/File/hemphearts_infocard_nocoupon.pdf from…

Thanks for the website suggestion. Everything looks great. Making marshmallows with the kids would be fun. Here a few good cookbooks: - Rebar: Modern Food Cookbook (from a restaurant in Victoria, BC) - Quinoa 365 - Veganomicon - The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook (used this one tonight)

Medium Rare. I prefer to cook it at home on a smoker with wine barrel oak smoking chips and a little homemade seasoning.

Oven roast with EVOO and a little salt and pepper. It is also good in stew.

The protein powder I use has Spirulina in it. I also add 1 tsp of the Spirulina powder to smoothies. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirulina_%28dietary_supplement%29 http://www.spirulina.com/nutrition_tech_info.html

Hemp hearts have iron. I add them to a smoothie or salad. You get the added benefit of protein and Omega 3/6.

Agreed. You should try to get it all from food.

Add a smoothie with protein powder. My morning staple is a little over 500 calories

I just bake mine in the oven with a little pure maple syrup.

We make healthy bento boxes for our kids. They eat them in the car, at school, or at home. A great and fun way to get more fruits and vegetables into them. Got our inspiration from http://wendolonia.com/blog/

Fresh lemon juice and olive oil.

Roasted bell peppers with fennel.

I agree with eating vegetables with Hummus. I also like them lightly steamed or grilled on the BBQ.

I am pretty sure that pre-natal vitamins have Folic acid in them. Folic acid is the synthetic form of Folate which occurs naturally in food. Green vegetables are a great source of Folate. Since the bioavailability of Folic Acid (supplement form) is greater you need to consume more Folate to achieve the RDA. 1ug of food…

Espresso Maker: Rancillio Silvia Grinder: Rocky Doser A double boiler would be the way to go if I had to do it again. The grinder is also an important, and often overlooked, aspect of making a good shot. Buy good beans as well. Some of the electric milk frothers actually make a better foam than the steamer. It also saves…

I used to eat chocolate before an exam. Some studies have shown an improvement in short term memory, which helps with the last minute cramming. If nothing else it helps you relax.

Hemp Hearts. For 3 tbsp serving there is 10g protein, 3g carbs, plus 10.5g of Omega 3/6. I eat it every day.

We pick up most of our produce from Costco or the local organic store. Not a big fan of the Super Centers unless we are traveling. Nothing better than landing somewhere in the middle of the night and being able to hit one up for fresh produce for the hotel room.

Have you tried a coffee made from a Clover Coffee machine? Starbuks owns the company now, but they were sold for around $10k at one time. Anything from the Clover machine or French press is perfect black. Adding sugar or creamer ruins the flavor. I stay away from the edible petroleum products. I met someone working for…

Your profile says you like whole foods. You should look at adding hemp hearts or hemp protein powder. Shrimp are also pretty tasty.

Two fruit and 5 vegetables seems low to me. Food guide shows 8-13.
