  • I can't imagine living somewhere where people make unsolicited comments like that to another person and the person making the comment is not in high school or younger, an unwelcome acquaintance, etc. That's terrible. Where do grown adults act like that?
  • Canned goods are incredibly mislabeled. I'm not talking about weight after draining water from vegetables (btw...the fda says the label includes the liquid). I'm talking about things like chili or soup. There is way less than they claim.
  • RIGHT! I scrolled through the responses just to see if someone finally realized that this isn't a Back to the Future quote!
  • You could have written nothing but 30 day Shred and all the responses would be "nuff said". It's torture. Kudos to the people that have actually finished it. I've attempted twice and never made it past the first week although at the time I was attempting I could easily run 5 miles and do Body Pump with no problem. That…
  • I had back surgery in February and swimming was the first activity I did that allowed me to even stretch my legs properly without getting a charlie horse. It's a pain to have to go to the pool, change clothes, change back, etc. but it's worth it for that all over workout without the strain.

  • Me too. I lost 95 pounds the year before last. Got a boyfriend and a back injury and gained 35 back. Now almost a year and a half later I am finishing what I started. My ultimate goal was 120 lbs, and right now I have about 60 pounds to go again. I think I sometimes have the same problem that you did - if I can't measure…
  • I'm kind of in the same boat. Lost 94 pounds and then between a bad boyfriend, hypothyroidism, and back surgery I basically didn't do anything for a year and gained 35 back. My original goal was to lose 120, and I was so close. Now I'm back to finish what I started. I had to hang up my running shoes while I recover, but…
  • To boil them without getting those blue rings bring the water to boil first and then add the eggs, cover with a lid, and turn off the heat. In 15 minutes they will be perfectly done. BUT... I think if your eggs are old that blue ring may be inevitable. I had to look up that recipe too. I think I learned that from Rachel…
  • Couch to 5K was a miracle for me. I could barely run for 30 seconds before I started that. After I ran my first 5K, I just bumped it up to 4 miles, then 5 miles. I agree with others...it's a mental thing more so than physical. I will scream from the rooftops, "Slow and steady wins the race!" Yes, it took me an hour to run…
  • I agree with the others who are saying you don't look like a size 18 in your pictures. That being said, if you're anything like me it takes a lot of loss or gain to change a size. I'm 5'10 and can gain 20 pounds (I tend to gain and lose evenly all over) and still fit in the same clothes. That's how it creeps up on me. On…
  • I'm 5'10" and my goal is 174 because that puts me in the healthy range. Frankly, at 200 pounds I wear a size 12/14 and a M/L top and am perfectly happy. I think I'd be just fine at 174, and then I wouldn't be in that borderline plus size range. Anything beyond that is a bonus but I'm not planning on it, and honestly, I…
  • I log and weigh every day regardless of how good or bad it was. If you ignore the bad stuff, you have nothing to reference as to where you went wrong or what things are affecting your weight. For example, if I have a high sodium day and show an extra pound on the scale, and then the next day I'm back down 2 pounds, I can…
  • Before was around 298 in April 2011, and the after is in May 2013 around 215 after I gained about 15 pounds of what I lost back. I'm back in the saddle now, and finishing that last 40 pounds.
  • I have a friend that's at 870 even with the Hurricane causing problems!
  • I know it's not a common thing to do, but I've returned things to the grocery store when I've bought the wrong kind or I thought it was bad (e.g. fruit, milk) when I got it home. I've never had a problem with grocery store customer service at Kroger or HEB.
  • 1. (@8:15 when I walk in 15 minutes late) Is it time to go home yet? 2. How long until 5 o'clock? 3. That is not grounds for dismissal. 4. Just pay your ticket. 5. It's freezing in here.
  • I have multiple sets of the same size storage containers. After I make something, I immediately divide it all out and see how many servings I ended up with. I put the containers on my scale when I divide them out so I know they have the same amount.
  • "You look like one of those models...what do they call them? The ones...with size?" "You look much better now." And I know it's not meant to be an insult, but it does offend me when people say, "You lost a lot of weight. What did you do? You got your stomach stapled?" My response: "No, I worked really hard."
  • I randomly add in "sprints" to my run, and I have slowly but surely seen my time go down. When I'm outside I just try to speed up a little bit and then if my heart rate gets too elevated, I slow back down. On the treadmill, during my last mile I'll increase my speed by a .5 mph for a minute then go down to my normal,…
  • He didn't specify whether he used protein powder for that, but Mootopia does make lactose free skim milk (not chocolate) as well with double the protein and half the sugar. Edited to add: Taylor - I have 2 HEBs within 3 miles of my house in Kingwood (one regular and one market) and then another one a little further down on…
  • If you have HEB where you live, Mootopia is twice the protein half the sugar and lactose free and delicious. It's so thick that I usually cut it down with skim milk. I also use half a cup of it with a TBSP of peanut butter and a banana and ice to make an awesome smoothie.
  • When people say "on tomorrow" or "on today" or "on yesterday." It's redundant. I don't hear it too often, but just about every single DJ on 97.9 The Box here in Houston says it and it makes me physically tense up. :explode: Also, "ideal" instead of idea. "I have no ideal." The meaning is completely different.
  • I burned a box too. I didn't flip out, but I thought it might work like a voodoo doll...it didn't. :frown:
  • I like Body Pump because I feel the burn the next day. I can keep up with it even if I have half the weight on my barbell as everyone else. Combined with my cardio (jogging and boxing) it really makes me feel like I have a well-rounded routine. Your post reminded me to get off the couch and go but it started 10 minutes ago…
  • I can't eat after taking my thyroid meds in the morning, so I don't eat until I get to work which is almost two hours after I wake up (I've got an hour drive). I've been on thyroid meds for about three years now and I can count the times I didn't wait at least 30 minutes to eat on one hand.
  • I did it in 2006. I still have all the materials from it. I don't remember having a calorie limitation, but I do remember having extremely small portions of certain food groups. I think some of the principles of the program are similar to MFP principles: having certain portions of macronutrients, a lot of water…
  • Yesterday I jogged 3 miles straight for the first time ever in life. For me, that was 40 minutes of jogging. At the beginning of the summer, 30 seconds was unbearable. I also went to see Jason Mraz and Christina Perri Sunday night and wore shorts out in public for the first time in over 5 years. Lots of NSVs this week!
  • I've noticed this too. That's usually when I put my medicine ball on (in between back to back weigh-ins) to check for accuracy. (I'm a bit neurotic about it and will want to step on and off 3 times so I know it's for real.)
  • I have the EatSmart scale from Amazon, and mine is always accurate. I put my 10 pound medicine ball on it and it comes up 10.0 every times. You have to make sure it is on a level hard surface though. That company is very good about customer satisfaction so I would contact them first to get a replacement. Maybe you just got…
