This is what I do-- First off-- portion control. Eat half. Build your plate with a protein, large amount of veggies and a smal amount of grain/starchy veggies. No sauces-- on the side if you have to have them. Pass ont he bread basket. If you want to drink alcohol order a wine spritzer,

It's really hard to get big muscles! Rowing machine will give you nice, defined muscles. I love that machine.

If you are doing cardio and the duration is under an hour you can do it on an empty stomach upon waking. If the session approaches an hour or goes over you need some nutrition before. If its weight lifting you need something in your stomach about an hour before. Something small-- a whey protein shake, etc..
