I also pre-completed a sample food journal for today. I already ate the breakfast. Basically, I'm thinking of adding a healthy snack and a salad with some walnuts and full fat organic dressing to dinner. Would love critques/comments. Thanks!

Incredible. I have been thinking about this a lot lately also and I notice that I get angry/energy goes down when I identify something. Like my mind is trying to move me away from it. I'm working on facing it even when it's hard. Thanks Banks!

Just to be clear, this would be in ADDITION to cardio. Still plan my 45 minutes or so of elliptical each day and I also walk very slowly (2.0-2.5mph) on my treaddesk. I walk about 6-10 miles a day. Essentially, I decided this year to develop habits that I could live with, that I would enjoy and that would ultimately lead…

I got into the best shape of my life healing a broken ankle! You CAN do it. If you can, get an "air cast" so you can swim and I'm not sure for a foot but I could do the bike with my post surgery ankle. Also, crutching is like cross country skiing through life - it's a workout!

I'm right here with you! Sadly we miscarried at 8 weeks earlier this year. I was at my all time heaviest when I got pregnant and tried to turn the sad into a positive and said that I'd try to get in the BEST shape of my life first. 22 pounds later, I feel really good! I have a long road ahead - still 78 to go as I decided…

Loving the 100 calorie pack cocoa dusted almonds. Guilt free chocolate!

To be fit before I start a family To actually WANT to go on a beach vacation and to wear a bathing suit To look hot (if I'm being honest, right?) To get this weight off so I can get ON with my life.

Yes all of those things! So close to my 2nd drop in jeans size and can't wait!

Thanks for your responses everyone. This site is so motivational and it is wonderful to be part of the community. And it's FREE. Pretty amazing stuff out there. You all motivate me and I hope I can pay it forward :)

shamelessly bumping. Read me please!

What an awesome, hilarious, honest and wonderful success story! I hear you on the "just do it". That's my motto too! Well, that and "just DID it" after I workout :)

Ah that darned scale! When you say "eating fairly healthy" are you logging? If you have a record of eating fewer calories than you burn beieve me it WILL come off. I've had my ups and downs but it helped to visually see that I was hitting my calorie and exercise goals. You retain water when your muscles heal after…

Hi and so sorry for your fall! My suggestion would be to let yourself heal and eat the calories MFP recommends for your weight when you list activity level as "sedentary". And get better soon! Hugs.
-
Yes I'm bumping my own post. Cuz I think it's good :)

Great post! What makes this different for me? 1. Same as you, making exercise a habit and actually enjoying it these days! 2. Coming up with a menu that I actually LIKE to eat whitin my calorie budget 3. Surrounding myself with people who are positive and cheer me on 4. Really modifying my lifestyle to support my plan.…

This is amazing as I JUST posted about this a second ago! Here are my goals: 1. Do the elliptical before work for 45 minutes 2. Walk on my treaddesk 6 miles per day 3. 1200-1300 calories of food, the healthier the better Been at it for about 38 days now and it seems to be working!

What has worked for me: 1. Getting into the habit (yay!) of working out every morning before work 2. My treadmill desk 3. THESE BOARDS!! 4. All the support from my friends and family 5. Planning, planning, planning.

OK, people have said "don't weigh yourself so much" and "focus less on the scale" but if you're like me that's somewhat impossible. So my answer is. You get to have a 30 second pity party then you get to make a choice. Keep trying or give up. I've had ups and downs that I did NOT deserve for my effort, but after my little…

You can add me! My goal is to lose 80 pounds this year (12 are gone, thank you very much!) and I'm also very active and on the boards all day long.

To be a role model for my family and pass along the good habits I've formed while losing it the first time. And to be able to rebound physically more quickly. Good question!
-
Me too! No kids yet. Maybe we should start a group? "Getting fit for pregnancy" or something? I noticed there is one for already pregnant people but not those who are losing in order to be fit from the start.

I totally forgot to do planks yesterday! Can I do 4 minutes today to pick up the slack? Ouch!

I work from home and was realizing that I would get the urge to snack around 3pm. Not hungry since I eat lunch around 1-1:30, just "eaty". About 2 weeks ago, started taking a preemptive walk at 3 before the urge hits. Worked like a charm and my actual snack hunger came in at 4. So I guess my suggestion is a planned…

My dad was how I found this site! He lost 70 pounds last year :)

Oh I've so been there. For me, a few things have worked for the past few weeks. 1. Like others said, have healthy things in the house. It's one thing to say no to something when there is a lower calorie healthy food that will satisfy you sitting next to it. If there are no good foods in the house, hunger will always win…

Ditto!

Wow amazing!!

I totally agree with this. When I lived in Chicago I lived in a high rise with a doorman and worked in an elevator building. When I started a new job, I cabbed it door to door. My husband bought most of the groceries because I jokingly told him he was responsible for the "heavy lifting" stuff and the store was attached to…

Planks are mean! But I want to have a mean set of abs so I guess I'll do them in a few minutes :) Can't wait to be a "summer doll"!
