Introducing myself!
Hi everyone, I am on MF but wanted to use myfitnesspal to track since I'm not a fan of the MF tracker (things like condiments, etc add up and it's not a good way to have it). I have 68 pounds to lose and today is my third day. I did this with success in 2009 as well. Looking forward to meeting some new people. I love…

Hey, who started around New Years?
Share your story so far! Whether you've lost 5 pounds or 25 pounds, you're still sticking with it! I committed fully the day after Christmas. I'd lost about 8 pounds prior to that and now in early March I'm down 20 more. I have tweaked what I eat, gone out to dinner, had some cocktails and overalll overhauled my lifestlye.…

BROKE THROUGH MY PLATEAU!
Yes, it's all caps because I'm THAT excited about it. It wasn't a super long plateau, but for 3 weeks I was going up and down the same 3 pounds. I thought for anyone else going through this, I'd share what worked for me. 1. I took a really hard look at sodium and realized I was getting far too much. So I set a goal of…

One thing I wish MFP would do
I noticed (myself included) that many people talk about eating only 1200 calories and not losing weight. It is interesting to me that if you put in "lose 2 pounds per week" and MFP runs their calculator and a 1000 calorie deficit of food goes below 1200, BAM!, your target is 1200. What I WISH MFP would do is say "you can't…

OK, going to try this "eat more" thing
Hi all, I came to MFP to log my calories and was committed to a 1300 calorie a day plan. My dad lost 70 pounds last year doing this and I thought it seemed like the perfect solution for me.. Here is what has happened instead. I eat 1300 calories a day from whole, healthy foods. I do 45 minutes on the elliptical a day…

For those who track sodium
I'd love to hear any stories from people who have lowered their sodium and the results. I'm wondering if this is why I've had trouble losing more linearly. Thanks! Emily

Weights - circuits or heavy lifting?
Hi all, I've done both, but I'm wondering what's best for fat loss, keeping my metabolism going and toning. I want to make these lifetime habits, so I started off with cardio and walking on my treaddesk. Meeting with a trainer at 2 today and wondered if I should look for free weights, circuits to keep my HR up as well or…

Don't be afraid and NEVER give up
This was my blog today. I thought it might be interesting to those here. Always looking for support from new friends so please add me if you like! Emily One thing I've been thinking about a lot lately is how completely and utterly I had given up on losing weight before this time. I didn't think I had another "I'm going to…

How did you gain your weight?
Hi all, I'm curious about this for others as I've been doing a lot of thinking. For me, I gained my weight somewhat slowly, about 5-10 pounds a year for 10 years. It was a combination of being sedentary, too many dinners out, too much beer (yummy but SO high in calories!) and around 5 years ago, just giving up and…

Officially addicted to my Bodybugg!
I just started wearing it a couple of days ago, but man on weekends what a difference it makes. It definitely showed me how I became heavy as well. Lots of sitting around being lazy. What I loved about it today was that I spent a few hours doing chores like laundry, dishes, putting away Chrismas decorations just to get a…

Making a big lifestyle change - walking while I work! Would
Hi all, My name is Emily and I'm 34. A few months ago I moved for my husband's job and I now work from home. I decided to make a lifestyle change this year inspired by my dad who lost 70 pounds last year. Over the past 10 years, my weight has been a struggle and it's gone up slowly, about 5-10 pounds each year. I had…

Bodybugg vs. HRM?
I got a Bodybugg for Christmas and am curious about what people's thoughts are, particularly versus a heart rate monitor. I walk during the day while I work so I wanted to try to track that. Thanks in advance!

Slow walking/net calorie question
Hi all, I'm new to MFP but really like it so far. I have been eating around 1200-1400 calories a day of whole foods - veggies, fruit, legumes, fish, turkey, etc (my food is public if anyone would like to comment on it). I have been doing 45 minutes on the elliptical each mornng and hiking on weekends. I have been walking…

Slow walking? Repost.
Hi all, I posted this in the general area but didn't get any replies so I thought I would repost it here. I have a "tread desk" that I got late last year and have really been putting it to use over the last month. I walk at 2-2.5 mph, anywhere from 6 to 10 miles each day. I don't think I should eat those calories back b/c…

Hello
Hi all, Been on MFP for a couple of weeks now and really like it. Have been lurking a lot and thought I would say hello. I'm down 5 of 80 pounds that I am going to lose. I'm really trying to get into good habits and my dad (mwitthaus) lost 70 last year and is my inspiration (what up, dad!). I'm 34, married and I work from…
