Feel free to add me.... I don't really have too much weight to lose, but I need to make sure I'm not adding! I would like to lose 5-10 pounds, but my main goal is to just lead a fairly healthy lifestyle. I've been on MFP for over 900 days, and having friends (I have about 30) keeps me pretty motivated. I don't keep an open…

Don't worry - it won't always be that way. When my son (my firstborn, who's 16 now) was a baby, it seemed he ALWAYS preferred his dad. I cried over it. But as he got a little bit bigger - into the toddler years, it evened out. Then, whenever he got hurt or something, he always came to me. 6 years after he was born, we had…

I don't know much about brands, but I used to use the elliptical at the gym... that you use your arms and legs. Then I started using the one that's only for your legs, and I found that gave me a better workout for my lower half. It was harder for me, but I felt I got more out of it. That's just my opinion. Good luck! I…

Good luck to you! BTW, my husband isn't very "fit", but he recently joint an adult baseball team (with my 16 year old son). They only play/practice on Sundays, but at least it's something, as he won't exercise for exercise for exercise's sake.

Yes, I think we all know when we are gaining weight, even when we're not using the scale. Plus the scale doesn't take into account the whole fat-loss vs. muscle gain thing and your clothes do! Good for you!

Is your husband overweight as well? He might feel threatened by your quest to be healthy and leave him "behind", so to speak. My husband NEVER compliments me for trying to be healthy, losing weight or achieving a goal (like running a 5K), but he's never been the type to give compliments. If I ASK him, he may say, "Yes,…

Well, I have to say that it's happened to me before. I even set up an appointment, changed my work schedule so I could go in later when the girl was available and she no-showed. No call, no nothing. Then the gym receptionist person told me that "oh, she has another job and probably got called in. I'm sure she'll call you…

It's never too late! Don't delay, because that's just one other day that you are not being good to yourself and you deserve the best you can give yourself!:flowerforyou:

No one in my family likes brown rice or any of the substitutes, so I still make white rice. Most of the time, I just don't serve myself any - only if we are having something that has a yummy sauce that I can put on the rice - and then I only have 1/2 cup of rice.

Wish I could help. I've been struggling with the final 10 for years!

Maybe that's why I always have hamstring issues! I need to do squats! (But (or butt) I hate squats! They're a necessary evil, I guess (just like the evil stairmaster)!

I'm that way too, for the most part....but over time, with my advanced age (I'm 48, LOL), I'm doing better. I go to the gym almost every morning. I worry more about making a fool of myself (I'm not very coordinated and sometimes I don't "get" the machines), but I've encountered very nice people there (for the most part),…

My first pair were Brooks.... I loved them, had them over a year - my doggie chewed them up a bit, so next time around I ordered the same (close to the same) kind on-line and got them a little cheaper than I would have if I'd gone to the store (and free shipping, to boot!).

Just saw this now .... My dad died when I was 8 and my mom never learned to drive..... we had to depend on other family or friends to cart us around. So, as soon as my twin sister and I were able (we were 16) we got our drivers licenses. Even my mom was happy that we were able to drive her around. You really need to get…

You are doing great and you should be proud of yourself (I'm proud of you and I don't even know you- LOL).. I have two theories for you: 1) The lady that made the comment about using pills - she probably thinks there's no way SHE could lose weight the healthy way and therefore thinks that of you... actually, you should…

The process of pulling in backwards is annoying... however, I remember reading an article once that forward-facing parking (where you can just pull out frontwards) is a lot safer than pulling out in reverse in a parking lot. What I try to do (and I work in extra walking steps too), is find a parking spot (usually far away)…

I've logged on for 860 days straight! Add me if you like!

You look great! I'm the same height and weight as you are now, but you look so fit! That's what I'm trying to achieve! :ohwell:

I've been on the "border" for hypothyroidism for years.... my understanding is to have the TSH, 3rd Generation tested.... I believe "normal range" has been modified to about less than 4 (it used to be 5). My other thyroid tests were in normal range, but it's this one that 's been wacky off-and-on (as high as "6" sometimes).

I go to the gym between 4:30 - 5:00 a.m. during the week. I don't set an alarm, I wake up on my own. If I don't go then, I don't have a chance the rest of the day - work, school for the kids and after school activities suck up all of my time. So the a.m. is "my" time. It's hard, sometimes I want to stay in bed, but I can't…

Southern California is great! Go to beaches (not too crowded during the week) if you want to do Disneyland it's close by. San Diego is only about 1.5 to 2 hours away. San Francisco is only a 7 hour car drive away and Las Vegas is only about 4 hours away (by car, also). The bad thing about SoCal is that you have to have a…

Walking is great! Swimming is really good too, especially for your joints. I have a hard time with DVDs, I just can't get into them (and I have a bunch). If you have access to a gym, the elliptical is good, too. I have a bike, but only go bike riding in a closed-off park (I'm too afraid of traffic). But we go as a family…

Yes! When I was "smaller" I used to always wear a 10 or mostly a 12. Now I'm at a 10 or sometimes an 8! I heard that sizes have crept up a bit, so that women won't feel bad buying bigger sizes.

About 800 days for me...... I, too, can't imagine NEVER using the site. It's just what I do now.

It took me 12 weeks to finish the 9 week program because there were just some weeks I couldn't get through so quickly. I would also recommend you slow the pace down a wee bit.... maybe 4.7 or 4.8, and see how it goes. Good luck! I loved the program because I was able to run a 5K when I completed it! (Truth in advertising!)

Sorry, I can not substitute peanut butter. I tried it for a month with Trader Joe's "Better Than Peanut Butter", but it wasn't. I finished the jar, and went back to regular peanut butter.... I just use a little less. It's great protein.

Have you read the book, Practical Magic. It's even better than the movie!

Well, I haven't read all of the replies, so I may be repeating what someone else said. But I would start out easier and work my way up. Many people give up too quickly on exercise, because they start a level that's too difficult for them, and then they don't want to keep going. Start with maybe a 15 minute walk - maybe a…

For those of us who can only workout in the morning (4:30 or 5:00 a.m.), it ain't great!
