  • Eating before exercise depends on the duration of my workout. I don't think there is any specific food, it may take some trial and error to find what works best for you. I found that hard boiled eggs or cheese sticks are quick & easy and don't upset my stomach.

  • Research your surgeon and Bariatric center. Make sure you are comfortable with the team. Find out what support they offer pre and post op. I found the forums on Bariatricpal provided a long of good info on what to expect.
  • Pre-op I did low carb, high fat (lchf). I kept my carbs at 50g or under per day...not true keto, similar. It works well for my husband and his endurance sports. So this will be a long term eating style. Right now I'm 3 months post op so I'm just focused on getting protein. No room for carbs yet.
  • You might want to search for specific sub groups. There are several for keto and low carb. There is also a gastric bypass/vsg/band group. The main forum at times is not supportive of WLS, so the sub groups is a good option.
  • Be sure you are drinking enough. In the early day dehydration is the biggest risk...so set a timer and do whatever you need to get your fluids in.   • I agree with going to a local bike store rather than a big box like Walmart. A speciality store can help you find the right fit. My local store has a recycling program to rebuild bikes and sell at discount for those who can't afford it. Once you know your size, pawn shops are a good option to find inexpensive bikes.

  • I used ice tea and lemonade (arnold palmers) to wean myself off the caffeine and sugar. It will get easier with time, once its out of your system for a while you won't crave it as much. I agree with the other poster that reserving it for special occasions give you the mental break of knowing it isn't gone forever.

  • Outside you have to propel yourself, on a treadmill you just have to pick up your feet. It is a different movement, so you may be using muscles differently. Others will be able to give a more technical explanation.

  • I ultimately fixed mine by addressing a muscle imbalance in glute & hamstring....the problem was never my foot...that is just where the pain showed up. Stretches and the boot gave temporary relief...but finding the root cause was the real solution.
  • I don't have tatoos but my husband does. He waits 2 - 3 weeks before swimming to ensure time to healing. No need to wait for the rest of the gym. Cardio & lifting shouldn't affect it.

  • I would recommend that you start in the pool and build up your endurance and distance. You may want to look for a local Masters swim club or Tri club. They often sponsors open water swim clinics, the group can help make the transition to open water more comfortable. What event are you planning in CO?
