Girl, you crazy... crazy awesome! Good for you :) Like a lot of other people said, don't buy the "fake meat" products. They're just as bad health-wise as any other processed food. Check out seitan for a protein fix. It's really easy to make and can be used in place of meat in dishes because it's got a chewy texture.

Here's a really powerful motivation technique that has worked amazingly well for me thus far: http://www.dextronet.com/blog/2011/04/achieving-goals-like-a-mad-klingon/

I have a lot of flexibility with my work so instead of taking one hour-long lunch break I take several 15 min-breaks. I measure out my portions beforehand.

I have no problems with genetically modified food. In fact, I'm all for gene splicing, that's what I do. *I'm not promoting organic food here, people.* The problem I'm trying to point out is that we are growing meat in a lab in an effort to reduce environmental impact when it is much simpler, cheaper, and more effective to…

The point is not that it's disgusting, rather the point is that it's unnecessary. The concept of growing meat (or tissue of any kind) in a petri dish is not bad, but it shouldn't be applied to food because we can easily grow it by natural means. Besides, who would buy lab-grown meat to eat assuming it was competitively…

A scientific study shows the health benefits of cinnamon are NOT dose dependent. Furthermore, no adverse health effects were shown in those taking up to 6g of cinnamon per day (this amount is far more than 1 tsp). Taking 1g of cinnamon produced the same effects as taking 6g. Here's the actual study for those of you…

I'm in the same boat as you. Like everyone else said, do some strength training and have a small caloric deficit (by small I mean 15-20% reduction). You cannot spot reduce fat. Doing crunches will strengthen abdominal muscles but will not make the fat on top of those muscles disappear.

amazing! problem is it's all really simple meals, which would be fine if I weren't the sort who enjoys fancy dishes. nonetheless, very cool and I probably will use it occasionally when I don't feel like pretending to be a master chef :p thanks for sharing!

Yup, that's me. I want to eat all the time, though I don't feel hunger pains- it's more like "I'd love to eat something right about now even though I'm not particularly hungry." It's worse when my protein intake is lower, and not as bad when my protein intake is higher. I love food... man I could go for some right about…

You're so right! I haven't seen any stores in nz that sell vegan cheese, not that I'd buy it if there were. Vegan cheese tastes funny. But then, a lot of vegan substitutes taste funny. Ah, it was the cheese that made me stop being vegan. Cheese <3

I forgot to say, I prefer vegan food. Yay fruits and veggies! <3 @ladybug: Quesadillas eh? Never made those before. Thanks for the idea! @krbn2: Mmm asparagus... Looks like an interesting recipe. I may incorporate some quinoa into that. Thanks!

I'd like to add my positive review to all the others. The vibrams are amazing. My feet are stronger and my knees experience less impact. It's a little strange at first because your toes are all separated, but you get used to that quickly. You'll feel really sore after your first few times wearing them because your foot…

Check out the cookbook entitled "Veganomicon." I've loved just about every single recipe I've tried in this book, and it has a lot of recipes! It utilizes very simple cooking techniques and the ingredients are supermarket-friendly.

This is probably closer to the truth than anything else. We do like variety in our diets, and who's to blame the juice machine makers for wanting to make a buck off us?
-
Haha, yes! I juice for the exact same reason. I need to get a new juicer so I can treat my taste buds to those tantalizing combinations of flavors...
-
Is it really impossible to eat that much fruit/vegetables? What you listed (divided by two, since it's for two people) sounds to me like a little less than an average meal. Then again, I'm vegetarian.
-
That's another point I forgot to bring up. Juicers are far less efficient at extracting the juice, nutrients, etc. than our digestive tracts. In fact, juicers are quite wasteful in that regard. Furthermore, when we eat solid food, we burn calories just to digest it. If we drink only the juice, we lose out on some calorie…

I love Insanity! I just finished the recovery week. On Monday I start month 2 and all the max workouts. Oh god... Haha! This last month has been great. I haven't lost any weight, but my metabolism has increased so much-- I went from not being able to eat more than 1000 calories a day to eating double that and not gaining…

Agreed. Even if you don't count the calories, you're still eating them. You might be able to trick MFP, but you can't trick your body.
-
I completely agree with dhakiyya
-
I love it! Thanks for reminding me to get some at the store later :)

If you're looking for a really good indoor workout program, I'd highly recommend Insanity by Shaun T. You can do it at home and you don't need any weights. Welcome to MFP! Feel free to add me as a friend :)
