Are we all still pregnant? LOL

I'm in the USA and I haven't actually done it yet, but I'm having a home birth this time! And I'm SO excited!!! I'm due in 6 days, so could be any time in the next week or two (or three, but I try not to think about that! LOL) I know the UK is pretty lax, though, so I assume a hospital birth there is much different than…

Wow, you have a lot on your plate! I think its smart to hire people in that situation, though I know how you feel. My husband and I like to do everything ourselves, too! Also, I hope I didn't come across badly about hospital births or anything! I know many people have wonderful experiences. Mine just weren't that great and…

The New Rules of Lifting for Women is also a great resource! (Its a book). I lift from home, though I was just getting into it when I got pregnant (due next week), so I'm going to be starting over. The book you have was also recommended to me, but I haven't read it yet. Definitely read the NRLFW! You need minimal equipment…

I totally understand. I gained 45lbs with my first and had lots of complications during the pregnancy...swelling, carpal tunnel, etc. At 41 weeks I had high blood pressure and had to be induced, though the labor itself went fine. I swore up and down that the next pregnancy, I'd do so much better. I got in really good…

I totally get where you're coming from, but just want to point out that gaining over the "recommended amount" doesn't necessarily mean you'll have health complications. Pre-eclampsia (and GD, too) has more to do with nutrition than weight gain. I'd focus more on making sure you're getting lots of protein (aim for at least…

Yogurt is super easy! You need some mason jars, a wooden or plastic stirring spoon, and a candy thermometer. I make a gallon at a time. So take a gallon of milk (I use 2% or whole b/c I don't like fat free stuff) and heat in up to 175 degrees, stirring often. Let it sit around 175 for 10 minutes and then remove from heat.…

I have struggled with this towards the end of my pregnancy really badly! What has been working for me is snacking on grapes and cheese. The grapes are great for mindless popping something in your mouth and the cheese provides protein. I make my own plain yogurt and its so delicious, with or without honey! I like to have a…

I had wanted things to be all natural for my first two births, but it didn't work out. With my first, I was induced at 41 weeks for high blood pressure. The combination of pitocin, breaking my water, and having to lay in bed was way too much for me and I got an epidural, which I don't regret at all! She was born less than…

Oooh, its so exciting!!! I have to watch out for dehydration, too. I try to drink 3-4 liters a day and on days I only get 2 in, I seem to have more bh/aching/crampiness, etc. SInce I've had 2 other babies, I've heard mine likely won't drop until labor begins. While I'd like the extra room to breath, I'm not sure I'd want…

Oooh, sounds exciting! As uncomfortable as they are, know these cramps are working on either bringing your cervix down/effacing, etc etc. If you haven't already checked out spinningbabies.com, go check it out! Like the PP said, if baby is posterior (back against your back), it causes back labor. Ideally, you'd like the…

Well September ladies...its our month!!!! Can you believe it?!?! Who is due the beginning of the month? I'm not due until the 25th and assumed I'd go past my due date, but I've been getting pretty strong BH lately. Lots of cramping in my lower back, too, and an increase in CM (cervical mucus) discharge. Tmi, sorry! lol…

You don't need much for lifting either! I looked on craigslist for a cheap barbell and some weights. I also have dumbbells from wal mart that you can add the little metal plates to make them go from like, 5-30lbs each. We don't have much room in my house, so thats it! (Well, I have an exercise ball, too). Also, if you have…

I was going to recommend Jillian Michaels, too! Her videos helped me get really toned after baby #2 and I'm counting on her help again after #3! lol I really love 6 week six pack and No more trouble zones. If you want to get into actual weightlifting (which I also plan to do), the New Rules of Lifting for Women is a great…

Thats exciting! Maybe she will come before your due date! :) The waiting was actually easier with my first, even though I went past my due date. I just enjoyed the whole pregnancy so much (despite having major swelling, carpal tunnel, and working full time throughout). But I was just so happy to be pregnant and enjoyed…

Discomfort-wise, I'm ready to be done. I'm SO ready to get back into working out and running and sleeping on my stomach properly! LOL I"m tired of feeling so fat. (I've gained the most I ever have with this pregnancy already and I still have 4 weeks until my due date. I miss having tons of energy and being able to sit down…

Welcome and congratulations! :)

Nope, not early on purpose anyway! My first, I was induced at 41 weeks b/c of hbp. With my second, I was induced at 38W 4 days b/c they were really aggressive about avoiding hbp. (I didn't have it, but they were really insistent). This one is totally not engaged at all, so I'm assuming I'll be going late again. Then again,…

Wow! That is crazy expensive!!! Have you looked on facebook for a local natural birth community? This is my 3rd and I'm actually doing a home birth this time around (after two less than enjoyable hospital births). I found my doula via local facebook groups for natural birth and cloth diapering. There were quite a few…

I'm not doing classes, but I bought the Bradley method book to read on my own for ideas. I love a lot of the ideas and mechanics of birth. My husband isn't really a very good labor support person, though, so I have a doula...which I know the husband/wife relationship is a large part of Bradley. Aside from that aspect, I…

I think as long as he is still nursing a lot (like every 3-4 hours during the day), it should be fine! They still should be getting their primary nourishment from breastmilk at that age, but as long as they are, I wouldn't hold back on how much solids to give. My youngest was quite a piggy when it came to solids! She could…

@Destanie= Howdy stranger! Glad things are calming down for you! I am feeling the crunch, too. I haven't had any time to start doing my own preparations. I'm hoping to not go into labor before my due date. You look great! So sorry about the back contractions. Are you able to see a chiropractor? I wonder if it would help. I…

I second the water thing!!! Water intake affects milk supply the most. Also, making sure you get in healthy fats. I always go with 500 calories for EBF until starting solids, and then decrease to 300.

I know someone who was induced for that reason at 39 weeks. It ended up going fine for her and she avoided a C section. Something else you can try are Evening Primrose Oil capsules. I'm pretty sure they are like vitamin E pills. You can crack them open and insert them right against your cervix to help soften it. If you do…

Its hard to pick a favorite b/c I've loved everything he's done....Aladdin, What dreams may come, good morning vietnam, Mrs. Doubtfire are probably the ones I've watched the most times. I'm still processing a world without Robin Williams. :( How could I forget Popeye?! And Hook!!!

Glad to hear things are going well! I just started seeing a chiropractor last week ( FINALLY!!!) and I love her! I've only had 3 adjustments so far, but can feel a huge difference. (though its made me really sore) and baby was head down at my midwife appt on Saturday! (after 2 adjustments...coincidence? ;) ) Now that I…

I think thats crazy low, too! Being only 5 weeks PP, your body is still going through major hormonal upheavals, too. If I was as active as you, I would be eating closer to 2000 cals. (I plan on being very active and breastfeeding as well, so I will be eating between 2000-2400). That way, you'll turn fat to muscle and lose…

I had a ton of bloating and showed much earlier in the first trimester with my third. (this one) I knew I was preggo at 4 weeks b/c we were actually trying and by 8 weeks, decided to start wearing maternity pants b/c my jeans had become so uncomfortable! They fit, but I was so sensitive to pressure down low and so bloated…

33 weeks today and up 39lbs! :) I had hit 30lbs gained at 23 weeks and thought the 2nd trimester would be brutal, so I'm very glad to have only gained 9lbs in the last 10 weeks!!! I usually gain 45lbs total, so I seem to be on track to gain somewhere around that if I keep gaining about a pound a week. I haven't been…

I was induced with my first at 41 weeks due to hbp. She did not seem to be in a hurry! lol
