schwinn TX - comes with a chest strap 24.99 ebay. i like the one with the chest strap for continuous reading.

i burn 100 calories every 9 minutes (resistance 10) or about 300 every 30 minutes too. your true calorie burn would also depend on your age and weight and the resistance as well. getting a heart rate monitor is probably the best thing to do that way you can compare to what the machine says you burned, then you will have…

i think i may be addicted to exercise. i don't remember the last time i had a day off. even if i don't work out hard, i do something for at least 30 minutes. yesterday was my day off. i ran 4 miles. WTH. i only need to trim my belly fat, but don't need to lose any more weight, but i'm still losing. now what? wait, my last…

welcome aboard. mfp has been an eye opener to me. nice folks here as well.

be patient with yourself. you're not perfect and don't expect this journey to be either. if you fall off the wagon, start over. what would you tell your kid if they said something like this to you and wanted to give up. you wouldn't let them but would encourage them to keep moving forward despite the obstacles. you do the…

best advice!

me too. lol

yep. everyone should have one. i don't exercise without mine. i want to wear it all day one day just to see how many calories i burn (minus exercise). i love mine.
-
yep, did it this morning. aerobics/cardio. yes, low impact, but i do my workout with hand weights and i make some of her moves a little more challenging. if you're unsure of the calorie burn, look into getting a HRM eventually. i love her workouts. very easy to follow.

i exercise everyday, why i don't know. even if it's only for a half-hour, i do something, even if it's not at my max, i do something. twice this week i had to get up at 5, well i'm up at 5 anyway, to get those workouts in. this week, i'm crusing on 30 minutes a day. hardly ever over a 300 calorie burn. tomorrow and friday…

when you and your 11 year old can wear each others clothes. when your workout clothes are too big (just tightened the strap on my HRM yesterday). when all your shoes are now flip flops when people give you the stink eye because you are losing too much weight when you have safety pins holding up your pants when suspenders…

pray and drink lots of water and stay busy. hope you feel better.

thanks nicole. i'm still researching online what to wear and where to buy it. i was thinking maybe i would just go to the gym. short run it is then. in the meantime, i will look into purchasing what i need.

BUMP. this was my question. i have no idea what to wear in the cold. i'm sure i have only cotton shirts and now i'm wondering if i should go out and run at all tomorrow. i'm not a fan of the cold, but would like to run tomorrow. eventually it will be 61, but i want to run in the morning when the temp will probably be in…

great question. i am somewhat in the same boat, 5 10 and formerly 170s, now 150. i still have some belly fat to get rid of but not much. yet i'm still exercising and counting calories - i guess to maintain and maybe lose a few more pounds. i probably can't afford to lose more but need to trim the middle. i was wondering do…

i was an A- to begin with. i wish the weight i loss could be redistributed. i miss the very little that i had.
-
i bought bio oil. i hope it works. it says it takes 3 months at least, using twice a day.

not many rules i do need to eat breakfast don't skip meals drink even more water if i have too many sweets don't flip out if the scale goes up. have fun!

i befriend you (Lotus) because i LOVED a comment you wrote on the boards. a woman asked if she should take a break or rest from exercising and you said you don't mean to get all biblical on her but even God rested on the 7th day. that was the best comment ever on this board, to me. i loved it and it tickled me to death. i…

i accept all friend requests here. i'm only here to motivate and talk about diet, exercise and fitness, etc. so i'm NOT sharing any personal information, unlike facebook where i do share a little more than usual. i'm okay if someone wants to be my friend, i can't say that i blame them. ha. :) i can give anybody a high five…

i have no way of knowing other than my scale. i'm sure it's not 100% accurate, but it's an indication. it tells me water, body fat, muscle and bone.
-
welcome to MFP. i agree, this site is great. keeps me focused or at least in the know.
-
i know how you feel, i get those looks too. it kinda sucks when i'm up at 5 busting my butt, but i'm happy with how i look and what i've done. you should be as well. congrats on your progress. if they could do it, they would.
-
excellent work. it feels great when one can get in pants or clothes they have not worn in years.
-
have you added strength training to your workouts? exercise outside? need more details on what you're doing now.
-
fantastic! you look great.
-
right after my workout; almost immediately. probably because the timer is going and i want it count my workout time only, not my recovery.
-
i always eat before i work out. could be a meal, might be a power bar, but i usually need something to fuel the madness that is about to happen. i eat when i'm done too.

wow, i'm sorry your family is not more supportive. i haven't encountered this with my family, but workmates yes. when people see you doing something they cannot or will not do, they don't know how to say anything encouraging, but just the opposite. it's sad really. this place is great for support. we all have the same goal.
