i made myself hungry. have to go get breakfast now! before i go though....when i'm craving bread (or other carbs), I've learned what my body really needs is more protein, not a quick fix with carbs. So you might want to spread some peanut butter on that toast. just a thought, best wishes

my standard breakfast when I'm not having eggs/fruit/toast: 1/2 cup coarse oatmeal (i like steel cut) 1 cup water 1/4 cups slivered almonds or walnuts 1 teaspoon sprinking either raisins or orange-flavored cranberries or fresh apple diced 1/2 teap reduced calorie soy margarine cinnamon heat in microwave same setting as…

Okay, i found you. Wasn't sure what that meant when you said you were starting a new thread. (hey, i'm learning). Anyway...here's a repeat of what i just posted on the old site: my weigh in wasn't what i had hoped for, actually up a pound to 159. But I think I know why and i think I know what to do about it so I'm not…

Hi there. when you say you'll start a new thread, does that mean this one will end and we need to look there for this group? I'm kind of new to this stuff and just learning my way around it. just don't want to lose touch! my weigh in wasn't what i had hoped for, actually up a pound to 159. But I think I know why and i…

way to go KF. That's inspiring. no good news on the scale for me today. up a pound. but i'm not changing my ticker cause it's going away!!! I ate with friends last night after yoga and it was kind of late. i'm hoping it's temporary weight gain on the scale that I'm seeing. I want to go the other way! Good luck to everyone.

it's pretty common and becoming more so as people, for other health reasons, avoid the sun more. I was very deficient last time I had blood work done. I went in because i was tired all the time and my joints hurt). I was put on a prescription dose for a while and then retested after finishing that course and was back in…

I think what I'm discovering is this is going to take even more planning and pre-prep of meals on my part. Usually if i DO eat out, it's because I've waited too long to eat and need food NOW. I think I need to pack some emergency food in my car. I didn't eat out today but I came really close. I actually drove into a…

thanks! I didn't realize I could go to where I had posted before. I see how it works now and appreciate your help.

I said I was on board (a few days ago) but now I can't find it. Can anyone help? I'm still kind of learning how to manuever around this site. thanks.

i've been following your blog for some time. (Someone mentioned it here at MFP some time ago). I love it and find it very inspirational. Plus you're funny! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!

lauren, you might try investing in a brita or other brand water filter pitcher. I too quit doing bottled water cause it was so expensive and because of all the plastic i was helping to send to our landfills. I now filter water, pour it into glass juice jars I keep in the refig and add a slice of lemon to them because that…

lauren, oh, and i forgot. I was getting dizzy and kind of anxious between meals too until I upped my water intake considerably. I keep a big jug of water with a slice of lemon in it near me all the time and it's really helped. I think I was getting more dehydrated before than anything...just didn't know it. good luck

hi lauren don't know if this will help but sometimes I enter all my meals ahead of time on mfp to add up to my daily allotment. So when I've eaten all my meals, I know I'm out of calories. When I enter what I've eaten in a day at the end of the day, I often go over. Hope that helps. I think mostly we just need to be…

I'm in. I've got about a week's start already. i decided I could take all the money I usually spend out on food and coffee drinks and buy really good groceries for probably half the cost and be far better off. I can't believe how my tastes are changing of late and what I just ate after yoga class and thoroughly enjoyed. I…

i love my yoga class but it's bikram yoga (done in 105 degree room for 90 minutes at a rather intense pace). I find it very very challenging but very rewarding. For me, I had a lot of aches and pains in general and then, in particular, with any exercise. But something about the heated room allows me to get much more range…

doing pretty well so far. Last night I could feel boredom coming on which was about to mean "hey, why not eat!" but I managed to get to bed early with good book and a bottle of water instead. I think I need to rearrange my schedule or something so I'm doing something productive or fun during the evenings or I just go to…

i like it! catch you all later.

thanks carl and stillkristie. I'm not sure what any of you guys are talking about either. But it's entertaining. Good evening to all.

i sent fitness chick a personal note and asked if she could please post her before and after pictures because it would lead more credibility to her posts, which i also thanked her for as they were very informative, I also said that, after seeing several "requests" from others for her to do that, I thought doing so would…

good luck singfree with the doctor report. No weight loss for me this week but no gain so I'm counting that as a win. I'm doing really well with the food diary and being honest there and I managed to get in more water this week...boy that's a tough one for me and I really need to correct that, particularly since my…

weighed in today and no change for me yet: 158. But, I'm going to consider that a success as it's no weight gain either! Plus, I did better on water intake, got plenty of exercise, and felt good. (also it's starting to feel like spring outside). thanks everyone for being here and best wishes.

Hi stiringwendel (ooops i'm not sure i got your name right and now I don't know how to go back wtihout losing this post...so 'll just hope) thanks for your note. It is amazing how much more energy I have from eating more (and better) foods. Also, I don't get shaky like I used to cause I'm eating more regularly...so I'm not…

i took the 60 day bikram yoga challenge and I'm about 3 weeks into it. it's a stretch to go that much everyday but, hey, the promise is my life will be transformed. It already is becoming so. I'm soooooo much more energetic and just feel ALIVE. I normally have trouble doing exercise classes and workouts because of pain but…

hi swissmiss. my birthday doesn't come around again until Nov. 14. That's interesting about your surgery and your calorie intake and weight loss. It's a very good age to be, particularly as we explore how to care for our bodies better. I had no idea how tuned out I was most of my life regarding doing that. Never too old to…

smithiekat, do you do bikram yoga too? sounds like it. i just discovered it a couple of months ago and i'm hooked.

thank you! my april 30th goal is another 2 lb loss and I'm going to get back to walking an hour a day at least 4 times a week til then, drinking water all the while!

Hi everyone. I'd like to join your group. i definitely qualify age wise (58) and I'd be really happy to get down another 10 lbs eventually (I've lost 9 since starting MFP in january and now weigh 158). I'm mostly motivated by a desire to stay healthy and energetic so I can LIVE the rest of my life and have the energy to…

I'd like to join too! I have my 40th high school class reunion coming up in july and I haven't seen most of my classmates since the 10 year reunion. My summer goal is to show up there looking and feeling fit. But my main goal is to get and stay as healthy as I can for the rest of my life, so I can enjoy life to the fullest…
