I am the same. I love the cardio section and but i just can't get over to the weights section as i feel intimidated. I know that they aren't looking at me etc or remotely interested in what i am doing, but feel very self conscious. Suppose once i get over that i will have no bother!

I have a Kelly Homes HRM, and for the price i paid for it £19.95, its brilliant. Eventually want to up to a Polar, but for the time being this is doing the job nicely.

hi. I am 5 foot and a 27 inch leg (how small?? :)) i get my joggers from M&S and for the gym i usually wear capri running tights/leggings as they are the only ones which fit leg wise which won't trip me up.

I second the hill training. My other half has done the GNR 6 times and never mentioned that the hills were well hilly :). I incorporate around 50 squats into my routine, but this is along with side squats, squats with an ankle touch and other thigh/leg related exercises (can you guess i have a problem with my thunder thighs? lol) With regards to crunches, i do 100, but again along with other ab related exercises. K

Annoying woman that copies what i am doing on the treadmill/xtrainer, but obviously doesn't have the right gym clothes. i.e silly "fashion" trainers rather than proper running ones.

Yes a year is plenty of time. I did it this year, and decided a year before that i wanted to do it, and was a non runner, and pleased to say i completed it and did it under 3 hours!
