  • I had the same issue. Try to find a gynocologist that is also on the endocrinology side of things. I finally found a doctor who knew very well what PCOS was, knew the trouble that we have losing weight and agreed to have me try metformin when I asked.
  • As mentioned, definitely take metformin with a meal. My doctor started me at 425mg (1/2 a pill) a day for a week and then up to 850mg (1 pill) a day. Only have trouble if I wait too long to take it after I eat. :)
  • my husband uses a VPAP machine which is similar to CPAP, but it can sense when you've stopped breathing and provide the air instead of a steady stream. Also, on the VPAP, there is a humidifier so he doesn't get so dried out. But seriously, he is finally sleeping well and his whole outlook has changed. It's worth it!
  • Diet and exercise together. Watch your carbs and sugars. I recently asked to be put on Metformin because I've also heard that is very helpful in losing weight with the insulin issues that come along with PCOS.
  • Make sure you take your vitamins with food. If I take my multivitamin (esp Vit B) on an empty stomach, I get super nauseous. Hope it gets better for you!
