One of my MFP pals posted "If you want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse."

I've used both the yellow and the chocolate Hodgson's Mill (http://www.hodgsonmillstore.com/en/Gluten-Free-Chocolate-Cake-Mix/71518-02135-001_Group-1.aspx) and everyone liked it. We tried the Betty Crocker GF mix and found it salty. I agree with others, make it yourself.

Married in Nov 84 First Date in Oct 81 Still like each other. Rough patches though. Theme song should be Huey Lewis and the News "Happy to be Stuck with You."

Isn't that the truth!

Thank you for the support. If they were only worried about the GF ness, I could get it. My son and I both have Celiac. We found out last summer when he wasn't growing and the eventual testing said that his father and I should be tested. Lucky me, I tested positive. (Son and I are largely asymptomatic which means we have to…

In a word, WOWZA. Congrats on all your hard work!

I'm nearly 50 with about 60 to lose. (I'm trying to get to a dress size 10/12, I'm less concerned about actual weight it takes to get there.) Feel free to add me!

I do so much cooking from scratch just to control what is in the final product. (Like right now I am making my own chicken broth from chicken thighs). But that takes so much time and planning that often I get depressed about it. There are no "quick bites". It is hard. And a pain. Just wanted to say I hear you sister, I…

Can't help. Have 6 in the family, 3 of them teens. I go through 30 bananas in a week. Biggest problem is trying to keep a banana until it freckles because that's how I like them.

Pat, pat. I feel your pain. And geeze louise, how hard would it be to have ONE LOUSY pan that you kept GF for GFers. I think that you are running into resturants who want to please the scads of people who are jumping on GF wagon, not because they have too, but they are trying it out as the new health fad. A little gluten…

I'm in Mass. The chains mentioned above plus a local chain called The 99 have gluten free menus. I have only found one non-chain place that would do gluten free and that was a vegan place. I don't eat out much any more. *sigh*

Multiple cakes? That confuses me. Now if she made you a from scratch cake from the best ingredients and you wouldn't eat it, then I could see her getting a little testy. Or that she made the guac herself. Or stopped special at that little Mexican place that makes their chips by hand and brought them hot from the oven. But…

Planning ahead and trying to feed a family at the same time. Trying to figure what I can eat (especially at meal time) and of course make that is Healthy and balanced No too many calories Gluten Free (myself and 1 of my four children are celiacs) Appropriate for the family which includes 1 vegetarian 1 person who only eats…

Great job and I love the fact that you are wearing normal clothing in both pictures so it really is an apples to apples comparison. Also, you smiled in both. Awesome smile btw.

I thank you and my son thanks you.

That is kind of mean actaully. It happens as my work too. I work by the hour so leave 5 to 10 minutes early that I stated so I comp myself for the food I have to provide myself. Ask for a small amout of "comp" money. Buy some really exellent gluten free corn chips, sour cream, shreaded mexican cheese, and quality salsa.…

That reminds me, I have to call my son's small private school who is having a "winter social" because I don't like spending 40 dollars for a meal that my celiac vegatarian teen can't eat one spec of.

Lemon in water and flavored seltzers. I don't like the taste of propel with the fake sugars. But I find it hard to do enough water too.

Logging everything. Even when everything is bad.

I think it take a certain time on this earth to get what you said so brilliantly in Sabotage. Fortunately, I am nicely marinated in life at this point.

I second or third the choice to make quiona with chicken broth. I add Mrs Dash garlic to it too. Goes great with chopped veggies.

GF son likes the corn/quiona ones. Me not so much. I like the brown rice Tykiyada ones.

Several years ago, I asked my evil former boss if I could work at home 1 day a week. She said "Aren't you worried that your refrigerator will distract you from work?" The craziest thing about this, at this time, was that our fridge was nearly empty empty . Why I want to work from home 1 day a week was that hubby was…

The one medical study that matches my issues pretty much says I'm doomed to get more overweight http://spider.ipac.caltech.edu/staff/joanno/med_pubs/****ey2006_overweight_celiacs.pdf

Both my 17 year old son and I are celiacs and we found this out "by accident" this summer. My son had a series of tests to find out why he wasn't growning. (I'm 5 3, his dad is 6 1, and he is barely 5 4). His IGA blood test came back as 300 (where under 20 is normal). His 6 month marker after going GF is just below 9. His…

I have no reactions at all, so in a way, it is worse because I could be having regular gluten exposure and not know.
