I'm a little late to the thread but I'm getting ready for my first olympic distance and I also have about a million questions. For the sprints I just wore a sports bra under a swimsuit, then put on tri shorts and a light top for the bike/run. For my olympic it looks like I'll need a wet suit, which is a whole new thing so…

The only reason I joined 24 hr was because I needed access to a pool in the colder months. There's no group or anything but its not usually crowded. Lots of slow swimmers and walkers like any public pool. I used to swim with the master's group at the downtown Y. Doesn't fit my schedule any more but its a great group!

I know I'm jumping on this thread a little late! I was a swimmer through high school/college so that's my strongest leg by far! I did a couple sprints last year and I'm aiming for an olympic at the end of April. I've never been much of a runner, and a 10K will be a lot for me but I'll get there. The bike I struggle with…

It doesn't really matter if she's not the bridezilla type, it's very possible she won't care, but her mom or grandmother might. Everyone has given you feedback that it looks very bridal and you'd be ignoring a well-known ettiquette rule just because you want to buy a pretty dress on sale. I'd be upset if someone wore white…

June 1st 2013! My weight has fluctuated a lot the last couple years, so I want to get it down and stay there, not just for the wedding, but for a happy, healthy me! I especially want to tone up my arms and upper back for my strapless dress!

NTC Masters Swim posts workouts online 3 days a week. Each day there are 3 distance options ranging from about 2000 - 6000 yds. I usually just print out the most recent one on my swim days to keep things from getting boring!

This is a great thread! I got down to my goal weight of 140 lbs (I'm a little over 5'7) about a year ago. Then I finished a triathlon and gave myself a week break.... and gained it all back so fast (Up to 154!). Now I'm on my way down again and this time I'll be sticking with it. The goal is to get a little below 140 so…

I have really curly frizzy hair also, but It's not as much of a problem as you'd think. I leave it in a low bun under my swim cap and after pulling off my cap put on my helmet for the bike no problem. I can't stand it low when I run so I grab a headband in T2 and usually readjust it higher as I jog out of transition.…

Great, thanks! I may have to go watch the Texas Ironman. I've never seen one in person, I bet it'll be great inspiration!

I did a couple sprint tris last year but I've taken a break and I want to get back in it and move up in distance in 2013! (I joined MFP a while ago but never used it seriously. I'm trying to start!) Plan so far: February: 10K Rodeo run March: Sprint tri (haven't picked one yet) April 27th: Kemah Olympic Tri (my first…

You can go back and delete previous weigh-ins, so that's probably the easiest way to deal with a bad scale!

Hello All! Just got engaged a few weeks ago and we're already deep into planning! We're aiming for May or June 2013 but haven't picked a venue yet! Question for other brides-to-be, do I need to reach my goal weight before ordering a dress? Clearly, dropping 15 pounds by the wedding (9 months) is a lot easier than dropping…

I'm with you! I swam in high school and college (distance also!) and never really thought about limiting food. I love food and I don't think I'm ever really full. Now I'm 2 years into an office job and working really hard just to not gain too much. I'm probably more self-concious than I should be, but I'm just not as fit…
