Lifting weights will not make you huge. Your basically telling me, as a heavy lifter that is losing weight and getting smaller, that I am getting huge. Since I'm trying to get smaller, yes, that's a pretty hefty insult. The above picture is of me, and I hardly consider myself huge. And in that image I was able to deadlift…

I'm 30 and also have Arthritis in my knees, hips, and wrists. I found cardio made things worse but heavy lifting helped. This is also what many recommend for arthritis suffers: "Tufts University recently completed a strength-training program with older men and women with moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis. The results…

Um before asking for help you should probably not insult those who could give you insightful advice. I have no idea where you got the "I will get huge if I lift heavy" theory (which is wrong btw).

I was skinny, I lost weight, I still had a belly. I started lifting...which is what I should have done to begin with. It's a combo of things. Calorie deficit isn't going to give you abs if you don't have the body for it. I've been underweight without abs. Strength training isn't going to give you abs if you you're eating…

I hated lifting at first but now I love it. I picked it up because I have arthritis and a history of osteoporosis in my family. If you want to learn about the benefits many human kinetic and recreation textbooks at university list many. Inches and firmness is one of the popular ones. To get firmer you need to do something…

The BMI is applied ONLY to sedentary adults. You are obviously not one. So congrats! Don't apply your stats on things that do not apply to you.

I can cause men immediate gains during exercise.

If it's inches you're worried about, don't focus on low calorie diets, focus on progressive resistance training. 0 pounds in difference. My butt moved up in the world and my waist slimmed down:

Resistance training is better at retaining lean body mass. Your harder intensity style workout is more up that alley. It will burn less calories, but with the same deficit you will lose a higher percentage of fat. With that being said If you're burning more calories (and maintaining a larger deficit), then over all you'll…

If your oil has less calories, you're cooking with water. You should consume some fat in your diet, it helps with absorption of nutrients. Don't avoid it all together. With that being said if I don't want my veg oily I usually just poor in water and quazi steam them. Meat must contain the most delicious of oils.

I'd probably pick up a heavier, single dumbbell and do goblet squats (less awkward). But 2 dumbbells with the rest is a fine plan. The overhead presses is what got me, so yeah, starting with dumbbells is a great plan. Once you think you can move up from 40 you should be able to do it with the barbell. If you can't do the 5…

That's fantastic! I hope you grow to love the benefits that come from it!

Apparently the body craves magnesium when we're on our period. Do you know what's high in magnesium? Dark chocolate. So, eating high magnesium foods during that time should help with the cravings.

My great grandmother's friend lived into her 100s and swore on a diet of tea and crackers. She was more spry then many of the younger women around her. Laughed allot, remembered who I was, didn't need a walker, and always had a box of chocolates on her. I want to be that woman. Mental health is important too, and chocolate…

^Good for you! Keep it up. Anything is better then nothing. But I do want to point out progressive heavy lifting is the way to go if you want to keep muscle. My bookbag is heavier then those dumbbells, and I'm a school girl. I just started lifting again after being away for many months, and the lowest weight I touched was…

Nothing against this poster, but I absolutely disagree with most of this. A weight isn't a reason to do cardio vs strength training. Particularly since that much weight on a endurance training program can cause repetitive stress injuries. Not that it can't be done, there are some very obese individuals who have a great…

On a calorie deficit, progressive strength training will get you better results in terms of keeping muscle mass and removing fat. Strength training is great for retaining muscle, and increasing fitness. Cardio is great for easily and quickly creating a calorie deficit, and also increases cardio vascular fitness. It's…

A little bit of education: Protein powder does not shred off fat period. Nor does it remove it from a particular place. Neither does any food. Adding 'female' to this post does nothing either. There is no 'female' or 'male' protein. It's not like they milk the male cows for the male protein....I'm sure the men would not be…

stronglifts 5x5 is a popular free program you can find online. As far as good reads go, I recommend Starting Strength for technique etc.

I'm with the sensible folk. The cleanse may cause sickness and will not add to health. If you're not eating enough you will lose water weight short term, and will then gain it back easily. Seriously, throw it in the garbage.

If it's a hang over you want to get rid of, eat Mcdonalds fried something or others with fries and a coke. Works for me every time.
-
wwowww...yes... So I just graduated and I've been eating every single last meal for the last 2 weeks at mcdonalds and wendys....This is what happened: ^childrens size 10 outfit bought for my 6 yr old niece. I think my back fat is doing just fine.

Given your post below sounds like you excise a fair bit. When I'm doing a lot of exercise I need about 3000-4000 cals to keep me from losing weight. So I'd say 2500 is a good place to start (if you're keeping up with your activity). Look up TDEE calculator. And don't underestimate your activity level. If you're recovering…

Just don't let the gimmicky talk get to you. It's not that we've seen this topic to many times, it's that no matter how often you tell someone it's garbage and why they still drink it all in. Eat less...that's the magic that shakeology does...It doesn't make you eat less but if they tell you to drink x many drinks and a…
