I imagine if I made a venn diagram for true paleo and vegetarians the intersection...wouldn't be sustainable and people wouldn't exist inside there. Vegetarians (whose main protein source is beans) don't eat meat and Paleo (whose main protein source is meat) don't eat beans...Your diet would turn into sauce and vegetables…

On the plus side if you start now losing fat will be like gaining muscle percentage wise. Strive to keep what you have if you're trying to lose first.

They bring up a good point. Unfortunately It's hard to gain muscle in a year after you dry up and die. I for one am glad to come in here and discover dead people are not expanding annually.

I hope these guys don't get on your nerves and make you leaf. But I think you should branch out and do things for your physical and emotional health instead. You can set up your own goals for protein. MFP goes by the FDA's requirements which are very low. I would strive to pass what they recommend.

They're based on the minimum requirements for a population to avoid deficiency according to the RDA. Even that number is probably lower then it should be.…

That depends on many factors. What kind of diet do you have? How much do you eat? When do you excise? How often do you excise?

Do you exercise? If not I'd try that. Many scholarly articles show LDL reduces with exercise. There's many people who exercise who can eat ridiculous amounts of bad foods but as far as math goes they show up fine on paper.
